So Just for fun I bought a 100 pounds of WW Ingots. About $0.83 lb. Chris and I wanted to get the feel of things so we re melted the ingots and fluxed them to clean them up. Man was it a lot of fun. Still a lot to learn ( So Fred be ready for a phone call and a Visit.) and tools to get. Here is some pictures. Oh ya I scored the Cast iron pot on Craigslist for a 20 spot.

I will tell more about the experience Chris and I shared on a cool foggy Tuesday night Casting beautiful Lead ingots together, but for now I am beat and going to bed.....:whistling:

Does anyone have a extra hardness tester that they could part with for some cash...? Chris is concerned with his Hardness...

I've got a BHN hardness tester and was involved in the infamous yammershooner test. Send me an ingot to test. I'll test it and give you my results and ship it back. You pay shipping here and I'll pay shipping back.

It looks a lot like my setup except a lot cleaner.

  5. I wish you guys would stop posting this stuff. I find myself looking at a Lee 20lb pot on Midway all the time now. Knock it off.

If the spoon looks like that you need to flux more and stir better.

Now, I realize that I just woke up, it's snowing like a fan gone haywire in a baby powder factory, colder than the hearts of all my ex-wives and I have yet to finish my first cigarette or cup of coffee but did I understand correctly that you melted down ingots just so you could cast new ingots?

You flatlanders are even stranger than I imagined... which is really saying something.

Oh, the folding table you're using may not be the best, stable surface you could choose. If you don't have a more stable and heat resistant surface you might be better off doing it right on the ground.

As far as a hardness tester is concerned... you have five of them hanging off each hand... they're called fingernails. If you can just scrape a faint line in the lead you're fine, if your nail easily gouges a trench in the lead it's too soft... soak it in Viagra.

Jack, its like when your a little boy and you just found out about your johnson growing. You play with it, not really knowing how to get the end result yet..But for you thats what 1,000 years ago so you may not remember what its like.

As for the table we only used that to clean the oil out of the new pot. That little burner would not get hot enough to melt the lead..

As for legality of lead use in CA. That's why we casted at midnight to stay low key. Except my neighbor may have had a issue when we fluxed and all the smoke went right into his 2nd story window..:embarassed:

As for buying lead Zombie, you forget we live in CA. Lead is harder to find than a Liberal with commonsense...:crying:

Actually, it's easier to find lead. Liberals never have had & never will have commone sense. Just ask one; "what is 1+1"? They will have several answers, just depends on their emotional state @ the time.

Why you gotta be so rigid, Fred? You're just not sensitive enough to the liberals' needs.

So what are you going to do when that lead gets dirty?

  16. He will use it to cast ww. Then he gets to make more ingots.

I always knew that some people shouldn't be allowed to own guns, no I know that some people shouldn't be allowed to own lead.
