We were waiting for a deer a couple of weeks ago and my 7yo just couldn't resist the urge when a bunch of turkey landed around us.

Here are a couple of likely dinners.

  2. I have it on good authority, that NOONE hunts with an assault rifle. That's unpossible.

I am also assuming the AR was in .223 was it? Guess maybe a 10-15 yd shot. Nice! Glad you had fun...

:faint: I sense sarcasm. I have hear of people hunting deer with AK's and SKS's...Also, they do make AR's in other calibers, such as .308 which is definitely a deer capable cartridge.

Looks like "taking a deer" must be the same as "killing a deer"

  9. From other posts by Bitmap, his younger son uses an AR in 7.62x39 for deer hunting.

Since his post starts out with "We were waiting for a deer a couple of weeks ago"

I'm assuming (yes I know what that means) that it was a 7.62x39 he shot the turkey's with.

Sorry, I haven't been back in a day or so. Yes, that is the 7.62x39 he hunts deer with. Yes, there was plenty of meat left. Hits in the lower half of the bird, below the breast, usually don't tear up much meat. However, a hit there will sometimes make for a messy cleaning job on the bird. In any case, I hate it when they shoot just one turkey. If I'm going to get messy I'd just as soon have several at one time.
