I finally found a pretty reasonable deal on a blue Colt Python with a 2 1/2 inch barrel.I paid $1700 but it has some wear on the finish and a couple spots that are kinda obvious. I posted about possibly hard chroming it but I may just leave it alone.

I wouldn't hard chrome it but if its not pitted you might consider sending it back to Colt for restoration. That's a beautiful revolver. Does it time properly? Pythons are problematic for timing issues if they were abused, Since the bluing is worn off your gun it was likely shot a bit.You already have a chunk invested in the piece but it would be worth it to make it fresh with Colt Royal Blue again.
JMOYMMV. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Slight roughness in front of the cylinder crane according to the seller. I'm also buying a mint stainless 6 inch that was posted in classifieds here. Leaning towards chrome.

I might send it back to Colt for a nickel plating job but not hard chroming it.

I never cared much about Python snubbie, but I may have just changed my mind.

I'm jealous. I have a 4", but I'm always drawn to short barreled guns. That might explain the plethora of Smith snubs I have. Nothing against the Colts at all, they just aren't as many models to collect!

Congrats! Very Nice! Here's mine from the Colt Custom Shop when they were still manufacturing Pythons.

Colt Python Elite S/S, 6" barrel. I paid about $1200.00 for it new.
