Must see movie: Mugabe and the White African

Discussion in 'Survival/Preparedness Forum' started by DoctaGlockta, May 12, 2011.

  1. LongGun1 suggested this movie this morning on another thead and I was able to catch it over lunch today via Netflix streaming.

This is a must see movie. I'm not going to give away anything but the movie is about when the rule of law disappears and a dictator who wants to take from the productive members of society and give it to the less fortunate.

How far would you go to protect what is rightfully yours?

    Here is the trailer:

Please consider watching and if you do I hope it was worth your time.

Its Africa. Most of the continent operates like this and it doesn't matter if you are white or a member of another tribe... This is how things are over there...

I'd pack up and leave and look for a better place to live. Otherwise you and your family would end up hacked to mincemeat with machetes. Ain't no S&P here...because there's no obvious solution--its simply best to take your lumps and get out of Dodge.

    Agree with Big Bird.
Any money spent on Africa is wasted. In Africa the leader is the one with the biggest stick. These are subsistence cultures that should have been left well alone. Somewhere around the 17th century, some sailors could have done the world a favour (including the Africans themselves) by following a kind of prime directive.

Not long ago, Rhodesia was a fairly nice place to live....for blacks & whites. Called "The Bread Basket of Africa", and was the land of plenty, but now it takes UN Food Shipments & other forms of charity for the populace to survive! The Rhodesian dollar was worth more than the USD several decades ago under Ian Smith....but after the destruction of the producing populace by Mugabe's socialist policies in the new "Zimbabwe", the conversion rate of the Zim Dollar to the USD was TRILLIONS to one US DIME! Inflation so bad that it was measured in numbers most people have never heard of.....maybe with the exception of the number GOOGLE....yep google is an amount! Mugabe had heaps of honorary degrees heaped upon him by a plethora of the so-called 'enlightened' western institutions of higher learning, but since finding out the monster he truly is, only one that I remember has shown any backbone & revoked the same!

Hey.....I know of some members reading this forum who can remember Detroit, Los Angeles, Memphis & many other towns and cities in the US being "nice places to live, work & raise a family"! When those areas became crime infested crapholes due to government intervention into local social policy & the construction of crime generating welfare hotels like Cabrini Green, they fled & created the suburbs. Then the government, in its infinite wisdom, tore down the crime-ridden urban cesspools & relocated the 'less fortunate' to the suburbs! Where exactly should the "producing citizens" move to now, especially as many are upside down in mortgages, due to .gov intervention in banking lending policy & social/societal intervention, as well as an out-of-control .gov spending policy taking more & more wealth from those producers who it rightfully belongs to.

That being said, this story parallels what many are facing here in the the seemingly boundless wealth of America is now just a heavily mortgaged shell of what it once was! Once upon a time, property taxes were voted on by those who owned property & actually paid the taxes! Now anyone who can pull a polling booth lever can vote themselves deeper & deeper into your well as elect those who will assist in creating new laws & regulations to do so! And those voting 'have nots' are demanding a larger & larger share of a shrinking pie! What used to be charity... donated by churches to the truly is forcibly taken by government from productive members of society then given to many of those who prey on society their entire lives (who then breed 10 more) & then have the nerve to call this sham now perpetrated on society for generations of recipients.... "Entitlement"! :steamed: Soon, in this century, the minority 'underclass' will become a majority! Even now, there are those who have tried to make "40 acres & a mule" reparations (with a stated goal of 1 billion USD for every descendant of slavery) into law! Wait another 20 or 40 years & see just how this movement pans out! Imagine the property grab if it does!

Just what country do you suggest those productive, law abiding, civil members of society move to then?!

...or is it then finally that quote the OP...

Wow Long Gun, sounds awefully familiar to a thread I started about a week ago.

Too bad the survivalists are going to rip you apart for being logical and get the thread closed.

This is exactly what I was trying to convey previously. Eventually there will be a time when we who own property, are successful, work for a living, will have our rights trampled by a leader (dictator) who will say its for the benefit of all.

Heck, I have friends now who believe that anytime a rich person dies his money should be equally redistributed into welfare for the rest of the country.

"Think about how much better off the poor would be then!" he says.

One day its going to happen, but sadly its going to be too late to do anything about as our rights will be eroded slowly over time and we will be sitting in our houses with a bunch of squatters asking us for more wondering how we got there.

OK, you changed my mind. They should shoot it out with the local warlords and government forces.
  7. The parallels to what has happened in Zimbabwe and what may (or is) happening here in the US can be seen. Taking someones farm or removing them from their home would never happen here right?

This movie has everything to do with S&P IMO. It makes you ask the ultimate question when things go south:

'How bad does it have to get before I leave?'

It looks to be pretty good, but I can't understand about 90% of what they said in that trailer.

The Rhodesians didn't lose a single battle. They fought the wrong war.

I think this is WAYYYYYYYYYYY over simplified....but a few points:

#1 We can debate the definition of SHTF. I draw the line at civil war. That is not SHTF. It is way worse than SHTF. It is TEOTWAWKI - if you stay. Rhodesia etc is about Dictators and Warlords. A totally different situation.

#2 The allusion to "taking from the rich and giving to the poor" issue, while technically true - is weak beyond all belief. I'm not going to get into a debate about how much is too much...but let's just say that the average millionaire here is probably a lot better off than those entire populations EVEN if we doubled the taxes.

#3 Taking everything from everyone is NOT socialism. Also, as much as you might want to defend capitalism, in it's more pure forms, it leads to ruin just as well. Let's keep it balanced kids. It doesn't matter if a planned economy puts all the money in the politburo, a socialist state removes all the wealth to all but the beaurocrats, a capitalist society puts the wealth into the wheeler and dealers, or the king/despot/dictator takes it. It EVENTUALLY ends up in one place. When that happens....not good.

SUSTAINABILITY is the key. And we are not about SUSTAINABILITY. We are about I want mine, I want it now, and I don't want any consequences.

I think the real issue was stated - How much will you take before you leave? This guy in the clip stayed until people with guns/machetes were coming. At least that's the impression I get.

I just think the comparison of a bunch of African tribal / banana republic states is a stretch. No doubt there are some lessons to be learned. But I don't think these places were ever in such a state of grace as to aspire to be like them at their height - let alone now. I generalize though, and admit to not knowing much about them.

I know i haven't ever heard of anywhere in Africa that was a desirable role model state, or one that lasted long enough to care about though.

Oh - also: The truly wealthy (meaning nobody farting around the intarwebs) pay our legislators to make sure they STAY wealthy. They pay republicans, they conservatives, they pay democrats, they pay liberals. And they ALL take the money.

One of the biggest concerns we should have, IMO, is the average wealth of a Legislator.

I would venture to say that they are, these days, likely in the top 5% of income. guess what that means - they are NOT like 95% of us (or likely any of us here).

    That's not good....

If you think they will let the money be "redistributed" at a greater rate than they will help themselves accumulate it...better learn how that works.

The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. And you are either moving up that curve or sliding down.

I maintain that fewer and fewer are going to be able to stay on the slop...and one by one they fall into the flat area of poverty. Eventually there will be a few mega rich who run it all...and mostly poor.

Do you make more than $1M annually? If not you are at risk for sliding down the curve - not up.

Same thing could be said about the US in Vietnam. So what?

The Rhodesian War ended in 1979....

Taking up arms does not win wars of ideas.

    Ideas are bulletproof.

When certain naive individuals start discussing the evils of slavery..

.. & want reparations for their predecessors being brought to America so many generations ago.. can always show them the graphic brutal truth of what happened & is happening to the modern day relatives of the former slaves who returned! :faint:

Be warned....the video series is not for the squeamish ....."This is Africa"

Reparations... obviously should be paid by the descendants of slaves for the luxury & safety of remaining in America...

..not the other way around! :tongueout:

Thanks I put both (Mugabe & the White African & Vice Travel) on the top of my Netflix queue.

    Too true.

I have a co-worker from South-Africa. He has been here about 17 months if I recall correctly. My boss met him at a conference, some years back, was favorably impressed, and created an opportunity for him to come to the US and work for us. We created a position for him and helped him and his family come over. He is truly brilliant, a hard worker, a huge asset to our firm and likely will take over his department when the current department head retires.

And he is THRILLED to have gotten his family out of Africa.

It is sad. His country needs men like him, but then again so do we.

Yep.....exactly.....he is attempting to force the productive farmer off of his house & land....legally purchased after Mugabe came into power...simply because he is "white"!

Look at Korean Store Owner in Los Angeles during the Rodney King Riots. Did they have ANYTHING to do with White on Black racism, Police Brutality, or the fate of inner city poor? It was simply a case of the lazy Have Nots attacking and taking from the hard working Haves.

It not about African dictators, or race. At some point the grasshoppers raid the ants of the world. People will not steal from Bill Gates, Rush Limbaugh, or George Soros. Millionaires have the money and power to shield themselves, and if not they will simply move to another country. What is left is the middle class. Hard working folks like this African Farmer, or a Korean store owner, who will lose everything if they leave, are left behind to get raided. We are the one that will be fighting off the unwashed masses looking for their share of the pie.
