You laugh, but I've been wearing that exact model of boot for going on 18 years now. Everything he said about them is true. Third set of soles, the cuffs are completely gone, insoles totally worn to the pegs, but I can't bear the thought of retiring them because they don,t make then like that anymore. And the carcases are still solid.
If only they had a size 12.
Or grown-up sizes, for that matter...
People just don't know about real boots. I have a pair of Hanwags I bought in Germany in '78. They have been rebuilt by the factory 3 times. Have THOUSANDS of backpacking/mountaineering miles on them, on several continents.. absolutely the best money I EVER spent on outdoors gear.
