Glock 26, Smith M&P Shield, Smith M&P 9c, Ruger SR9c are the ones I considered. I ended up getting a glock 26 and I'm very happy with it. If you're looking for a revolver the Ruger LCR, or a SW ladysmith would be my recommendation. So basically any "rugged and reliable" (Ruger term lol) 9mm or .38sp, .357 would be my caliber choice.

I can't say, but for sheer numbers Kel-Tec got a running start on the competition with their P-32 then P-3AT which sold in the hundreds of thousands. Later on K-T introduced the PF-9 which also was a big seller before the competition began to heat up. Aside from that I'd guess the small 5-shot revolvers that have decades of head start on the small CCW semi-autos are still as prevalent as ever.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a CCW gun based upon "most popular".

I rotate between my Glock 27, Ruger LCR, and Sig P238. The 27 gets more ride time than the others. I have 13, 15, and 22 round mags as back up, pending on destination. I cant decide on any other CCW's so I guess I am set.

As far as popularity sales wise I bet the LCP is at the top or very close to it. But that doesn't mean it's the best option for your use.

"Popular" is not a good way to even think about filling your individual needs.

It's hard to say since companies shifted from pocket .380s to pocket 9s and some to pocket 45s,although many use them IWB too.

As far as revolvers go, I'd say the J-Frame is king. Semi-autos are another story since most companies have their own versions and the focus seems to be more on them rather than little revolvers. Kel-Tec, Ruger, S&W, Glock and Springfield Armory are probably the top 5 brands carried today. Maybe I'm wrong with that list, but it seems about right to me.

    I either carry a G23, G19, PPK/S, or a J-Frame

Your thinking, of going with the G26 is a great choice! A J-Frame, as mentioned, and the LCR, are both easily concealable, and many including myself, use them, as their very discreet carry. My J-Frame disappears in my front pocket, when one of my more desirable, carry firearms, for one reason, or another, can't be carried IWB. It's rare, that my primary can't be carried though.

It should be the Walther PPS 9mm. It just seems like the perfect carry pistol to me.

Based on some reports from here and elsewhere I would tend to lean away from the Taurus. Seems like there are fewer reliability issues with a Glock 26. But maybe that is just me.

I am seriously considering purchasing a Glock 26, You said you are very happy with yours. I think I would have to invest in a couple of the Pierce Mag Grip extensions.....To make it feel better in my hand. I could always use my Glock 19 mags for my backup mags.

Most popular? Ruger LCP -- probably by a long shot.

    Runner Up? J-Frame or LCR

CCW Permit Holders IWB? Glock 26

Just my opinion of course :)
