Mossberg 500A Persuader... will wood stock set from any 500 fit this gun?

I need the help of Mossberg experts...

I have a Mossberg 500A Persuader 18.5" with black synthetic stock set. Great gun! Love it.

But, I want to ditch the black plastic stocks and put on some nice looking wood.

Is anyone here familiar enough with Mossberg variations to be able to tell me what to
look for in finding a set of wood buttstock & forend which will fit my 500A Persuader?

I get the impression that most any 500 buttstock will probably fit, but I think
that there may be some variances in the various forends, so I'm more concerned with
learning how to determine what forends will fit properly...

My 500A Persuader is s/n R195854 and I'm guessing I bought it perhaps 7 to 9 years ago.

    Thanks for your help...

It all depends on if your 500 has a 7-5/8" or 6-1/2" slide action tube...most likely its a 7-5/8" one but I would measure it just to be sure.

Victoria.... thanks for your help... measuring the slide action handle itself I measure 7 7/8" (just barely under 8") so would that constitute a 7 5/8" action tube? And would that mean that any Mossberg 500 7 5/8" wood handle forend would fit?

Havlin sales has a pretty good description of what you need to measure.

Go here: http://havlinsales.com/ click on button for "Modern Shotgun Parts" then scroll down about 1/4 of the way.

Many of the new synthetic Mossy 500 slides are permanently attached to the tube/rails. In that case you need the tube and nut and can order either length to go with the fore end you want.

They also have great prices on stocks.

vafish... excellent. Thank you. Looks like with mine I will need to buy an action slide tube, nut AND the wood forearm sleeve.

    I appreciate your help!

If you decide to buy from them make sure you either call or email them to make sure that they have what you need in stock because they really suck at updating their website.

I had a synthetic stock on mine when I bought it, although not the one you have. I went directly to Mossberg, talked to customer support and bought the wooden stock that fit mine exactly. I am totally satisfied with the wooden stock on mine.

Just thought I'd wrap this up. I got a Bantam buttstock from a 12 ga. Bantam 500 and a "turn-in" ribbed forearm from Havlin, did some refinishing and, voila... "old school" 500 Persuader...

I could not be happier with the short LOP, the solid "feel" of the hardwood, the open oil-finish, and the looks. The gun also shoulders really quicky and swings well. Makes a good HD sweeper. Thanks for your suggestions.
