I just got my Dad's Separation Papers (copy) and wondering if anybody can answer a couple of questions-He enlisted Dec 42 and discharged Dec 45. His military specialties are "Rifle Marksmanship Ins" 937 and MP 677. Is MP Military Police? I can't talk to him as he passed away 8 years ago. His "overseas time was about 2yrs. Is there any place I can get more details on his service record? Thanks, Jeff

The MOS designation numbers have changed since your father was in, but I'm almost positive MP is Military Police.

I'm not sure where you could get more info, but maybe your local recruiting station could help.

Rifle Marksmanship Ins. could possibly be the equivalant of a modern day range coach in the Marines. No idea about the actual MOS's you show as was mentioned the current numbers are different. Today MP's are 5800 numbers. I'll have to go back and look at my DD214 to see what the marksmenship coach designation was.
