I have a $1,000+/- budget to spend for my first 1911. Here's what I do know for sure; I do want it for CCW and a .45cal. *I'm 5'6 and small framed. I can conceal a G26 better than the G19 due to the small grip (I have a tendency of my shirts riding up above the G19 when carrying. However, the compact sized grip is better for shooting and comfort. *How much more recoil is felt between the 3.5 and 4.0 barrels? I'm worried for quick follow up shots. I have not had the opportunity to shoot both, so I am relying on owners genuine opinions. Which is more manageable? *Since the slide will ride in a holster, the difference in barrel/slide length doesn't really matter since it will sit approx. the same depth in both 3/4" 1911s; right? I've researched and the general "thought" is stick with at least a 4" barrel. However, If I drop below there it will be SA/STI which both are very good companies. The pistols I am looking at are: Springfield Armory Ultra Compact STI Shadow Colt Defender STI Guardian Springfield Armory Light-Weight Champ. Dan Wesson CCO Thanks in advance for your honest opinions and I cant wait to join the 1911 club!! Wanna kill these ads? We can help!
