Thinking about my 1911's this weekend, and it hit me that while I own a few(Kimber Gold Match SS, DW CCO, DW Valor, Colt Defender, Colt Lightweight SS, DW CBOB, Rock Island 9mm, Colt Delta Elite 10mm) I have nothing that is really nicely blued.

    Options/reccomendations?

    - maybe the Kimber Royal II?

    - maybe Kimber Classic carry pro?
    http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/custom-ii/royal-ii

My understanding is that on these two the blueing is done by Turnbull.

Or maybe try and find a Talo Royal National Match?

    Suggestions?

The Colt would be WAY higher on my list than the Kimber

I called Colt and asked them about reblueing something(maybe buy a new Colt and send it in).

They said they are booked with orders now, and can't accept anything new until June, then 2-3 month turnaround time.

There are other shops that do bluing other than Colt

Will they result in that deep blue that I want? See pic for example. If so, reccomendations would be appreciated, thanks.

I would be all over that talo colt if one came up for a reasonable price.

I love Colt's Royal Blue. It's what I think of when I think nice bluing.

Quite honestly if it wasn't for their Royal blue I'd probably have no interest in Colt at all:dunno:

Try to find a USFA 1911.

I believe Turnbull did the bluing for them and the pics speak for themselves.

I think I am going to pick up a series 70 or one of the WW1 re-issue Colts, then send it off for reblueing.

About 3 years ago I bought a 1991 Colt commander, blue. It wouldn't keep a mag on a paper plate at 10 yards, when I could get it to complete a whole mag without failing to eject.
Almost kept it just because it was the most beautiful pistol I had ever owned, IMO.
God I wish that pistol would have been reliable and a little accurate.
