Everybody posts that the 10mm is versatile, but all of the threads concentrate on developing maximum loads. What about minimum loads? Does anybody have lightweight, low velocity recipes that they want to share?

Or is everybody afraid they will be told they should have purchased a 40 S&W if they post about that? :crying: :tongueout:

Let's demonstrate some of that versatility. Share your low power loadings.

150gr Nosler over 5.5gr Bullseye. Very accurate and non-nuclear round.

    Thanks!
What is the velocity of that combination, and out of what barrel?

I out several hundreds of rounds built around 180 gr FMJ/FP on 5.5 gr of Unique for 940 fps from my 5" Delta ELite bbl....great plinking/ SingleStack Major PF load...

MalumProhibitum, You can load very light loads but powder selection and position for ignition can cause irregular velocities, undburned powder or dirty burns.

Therefore, you have to set you pistol up to work reliably with the light loadings, lighter recoil springs are needed if you go too low to help with cycling ammo in semiauto pistols which balance with the ammo in use.

As for 10mm I shoot Lyman TCBB175gr cast over 5.7gr Bullseye @ 1000fps as a medium load to practice and reduce cost.

My most accurate load Lyman TCBB175gr cast over 10.2gr Blue Dot @ 1180fps from my S&W1006.

Is this true with Glocks, which I thought come with the same springs that they put in their .40 S&W and 9 mm offerings? 17 pounds? I am using a Glock 29 right now.

MalumProhibitum, What I am trying to say is that there are some people which load very light loads and use less than the factory weight recoil spring for more reliable function.

My 40S&W full powered handloads will cycle the 22lb recoil springs in my S&W10 with the conversion barrel and also the Glock 29 using the 21lb recoil system.

If I drop to very weak loadings...very sub sonic...anemic loads(600fps), I change to lighter recoil spring weights. I don't shoot this low often.

I never clocked the load. It was one of those loads I stuck together spur of the moment when I had Bullseye in the powder thrower from another caliber. I just noted in my reloading log for the 10MM 1" at 25-yds out of my Kimber Target II. Most of my 10MM loads are hotter. I use a 40 S&W round for plinking to save wear and tear to the 10MM brass and Pistol's.

The slowest loads right out of my Lyman manual were very accurate.

    165 grain JHP - 6.5 grains Unique = 1012 fps
    180 grain JHP - 5.8 grains Unique = 1018 fps
