I would say MI is a good value. Not as good as LaRue or DD, but good for the money. I've never tried that particular product from them though.

For only a little more you can get a troy trx extreme.

The Troys are much nicer, but only go up to 13".

He posted a link to a 12", so I would think 13" would work. I would vote for the Troy TRX Extreme or VTAC Extreme (VTAC is slightly heavier and has Oval slots instead of circles).

I have some MI BUIS and the quality is top notch. (They shipped on my Stag M8 AR15) I'd buy other MI products in a heart beat.

I have that same hand guard in 15" on a 20" BCM upper and really like it.

Spiffy lookn rifle. How heavy is the handguard? I was hoping not too much.

I was not meaning to disparage MI in my post. They do make quality products but I meant for about 40 dollars more you could go from good to great. If all your budget can afford now is MI I doubt you would have any regrets.

MI is middle of the road. I went with a TROY TRX Extreme and never looked back.

When shopping for a rail I came accross info pointing to MI rails as being heavier and wider than others. I went w/ DD and a couple Troys

MI T-Series handguards are pretty light, but the rails themselves are too wide to be true Picatinny spec, and you may have some trouble getting some stuff to fit properly

    MI T-12 handguard review

YHM Lightweight is a little cheaper than the MI even, and everything that I've tried has fit. The slots aren't labeled though, if that matters.

    YHM Lightweight handguard review

Both are pretty wide, compared to the $300+ float tubes, but maybe not any wider than a standard plastic M4 handguard.

Their website shows it as 16.6 ounces, which includes the two short pieces of rail that comes with it. I personally prefer the look of the MI rail over the Troy and weight was not an issue for me (not even sure what the Troy weighs).

11 oz with the nut. If you count removal of all the factory parts ( barrel nut, handguard retaining ring) the added weight is aroud 7 oz for the 11 inch. The trx series is one of the lightest available.
