Hey, my wife just bought a Springfield EMP 9mm. She went on a search for a single stack 9mm and that's what she chose. Since we are NYS, it will be a couple weeks before it is on our permits and we can actually shoot it :)

But anyway, it got me thinking that I wasn't even really aware of all the different micro 1911 9mm versions out there. Can anyone name them all, perhaps with links to pics of them all?

Admittedly, I'm a newbie to 1911, and only bought a Taurus PT1911ALR last year for the fun of it. But when she started her search, I was thinking of probably a Kahr PM9 or maybe P9, or some other polymer DAO single stack. She doesn't much like my Glock 26, I think because it is too wide. And she doesn't much like my Ruger LCP .380, because it is snappy with yet only .380 power. But she likes her S&W 637 .38 snubbie.

I've been looking at gun catalogs for a long time, and I must have just really glossed over or ignored those micro 1911 9mms out there. She looked at the EMP just because it caught her eye in the glass display case of various handguns. Held it, and it fit her grip nicely! She tried the trigger, and it was light and smooth! Liked the size of it, the feel of it. And it holds 9+1 rounds.

So, I guess you can say she's discovered the single action carry gun. She had to think a bit about the cocked and locked aspect of it. But she knows how to operate my 1911, so it didn't make her pause too long.

Since she teaches other women how to shoot, I wonder if there will be more converts to the micro 1911 9mm. Only downside seems to be they are more expensive than the DAO polymers.

Most, if not all good 1911's are more expensive than polymers, because it simply cost more money to produce. Think about it, a 1911 is ALL metal, and all of it has to be machined.

The EMP is a great weapon, and if she is going to carry it, I highly suggest a proper holster, belt, and Log Man flush mags.

STI also makes a very popular 9mm micro, and so does Wilson.

+1 on the Logman mag mod. He does great work, fair price, quick turn around.

He can also put a slight V notch on your slide stop, which makes reassembly a lot easier.

And this aftermarket take down tool is great to help avoid the idiot scratch (not necessary, but it does work as advertised) http://www.youtube.com/user/NDZPerformance#p/a/u/2/W2pPpZ6j6F8

I have a Para Carry 9 that has run perfectly for me and is remarkably accurate for such a small pistol. I love the Double Action Only LDA trigger. My wife and son also shoot it well and are lurking in the darkness waiting for me to put it in the safe so they can claim it.

I recently picked up a WC Sentinel......I was all about my EMP which is a great gun, until I shot my Sentinel. I like the fact the grip is a little shorter, even with the log man mags (for the same 8 rd count), and the barrel a tad longer. Its even a bit easier to shoot, but the EMP accuracy is not that far off.

The Sentinel is also ~3x the cost of the EMP
