Low quality food, questionable nutritional value, a "restaurant" experience similar to standing in a bread line, and a revolving door for employees making experienced and knowledgable employees rare....

Yeah it's a real mystery why customers aren't satisfied.

I've never had a bad experience there, granted I'm not there too often.
I will say this though- their regular clientele who seem to live there always appear to be pissed at the world. Maybe they were the ones surveyed.

I dropped in yesterday outta necessity.

Stupid drive-thru POS didn't give me a straw, and luckily I caught that and had to ask after she closed the window. I didn't notice she didn't give me napkins, either.

Serioiusly -- how hard is it? How many people does she piss off daily?

The one thing McDonalds always gets right is their soda and ice tea dispensing. Burgers and frys always vary. I believe I heard something about the McDonalds corporate and their drink distributors are very strict in the recipe and dispensing of the drinks. Every other fast food restaurant I go to I will frequently get a soda with no syrup or no carbonation. Taco Bell is terrible with this.

If McDonald's food and service is so bad, then why is there always a long line at the drive thru and the parking lot is always full.

To be so bad, the food sure does sell well.

I love McDonalds, especially the Big Mac and those little fish sandwiches.
When the fry's are fresh and hot, they are to kill for.

Not surprising when a bunch of canadians are running the place.

But, if it's canadian free, I usually get a correct order.

And they only get that right because it's an automated machine doing it now.

Yes, but where do they rate in sales?

I very rarely eat fast food - and never at McD's - and I have noticed the straw and napkin thing too, USMC. I have come to the conclusion that is a way for them to keep expenses down. If the customer doesn't specifically ask for them, don't give them out. It may only be a few pennies per customer, but over time it adds up.

I went in when I was watching my young cousins.

10 cheese burgers, 10 small fries. To go.

And they only gave me one ketchup pack. I asked for more but they said one per customer. I said I have 10 fries for 10 little kids and they said "We understand but you are only ONE customer".

What you don't understand about McDonalds is they are not in the fast food business. They are in the real estate investment business. They just pay for it by selling burgers. Their real wealth comes form making investments in other areas leveraged with their real-estate holdings.

Mcdonalds is the largest (in terms of total sales) restaurant company in the world...by a healthy margin.

Subway has the most restaurants of any company in the world.

Of major U.S. chains, Chick-Fil-A has the highest "per store" sales. (or they did last year)

Its just sad, a "American" restaurant. You know the whole 50s thing..............Americana. That you're treated bad, given bad food. Yet its not cheap to eat there. My .02 cents.............

I go to Mac's for plain hamburgers and fries.

When I want something more I hit a BK for a Whopper.

The staff of both are worked very hard. (Not trying to make excuses for them)

Kind of sad seeing their employees first venture into working.

They went on to state , However, "the producers of the American Customer Satisfaction index said that McDonald’s customer satisfaction is at an all-time high."
OMG! what does that say about the past. You cant get much lower. I guess its all relative when somone is trying to keep their job.

The one near me is superlative. Looks more like a Starbuck's inside. It's very well run and I rarely have an issue with it.
Bates Motel is right. Ray Kroc used to say they weren't in the hamburger business, they were in the real estate business. Their franchise fees and rents provide an annuity like income stream. They own the property their restaurants sit on.

Their moat is so wide, they don't care about Burger King, Wendy's etc., their new targets are Starbuck's, Chipolte and Panera. They now sell more overseas than in the US. They also signed a deal with one of the large oil companies in China to place a restaurant at all the gas stations they build. The best thing you can buy at McDonald's is their stock.
