dunno about the Colt or Springer, but I'd be curious to play with this Lippard pistol

Back when I was in the Corp (87-91) the 1911s that were still in use were old old old and still being shot. The Beretta were far more prevalent but a few 1911s were still around. The old 1911s were looser than the bar girls on B street but still worked fine. Some of these endurance test folks come up with are off the wall IMO.

Not sure of the real world application of a 1911 at 200 yards much less 400 yards. Heck i can not even see that far to shoot a 1911 at something

We were shooting M16A2s at 500 yard open sights and that was a tough gig at times.

I say whatever sidearm the Jarheads want let them buy it. :wavey:

Still think the HK45 would be sweet for our troops.

do not confuse the USMC Special ops people getting a few hundred 1911's to replace the frequently rebuilt ones they use with any sort of full scale issue of 45's to the mainstream troops.
The 1911's are used by special ops personnel. the rest of the USMC is still using the Beretta and considering large scale contracts given to Beretta (the largest pistol procurement contracts since WW2)will be for a very long time

    400 yards????

Have they ever tried that with a 1911? I have. I aimed several feet high and was still hitting the ground way short of the target.
