What the heck is this guy doing going to a popular nightclub and carrying his weapon? Trust me, I understand the need to carry. But since I got my permit I no longer drink alcohol at all, and avoid many places I may not have avoided in the past. A nightclub would be one of those places...

Hopefully the shooting was justifiable but with the little amount of facts given, it's hard to tell where this will be going. Hopefully it wasn't just a verbal fight that escalated into him pulling his gun and shooting.

I agree with you minnesnowta. I too have completely stopped drinking alcohol since I received my permit and tend to avoid bars and clubs. At least one of the men who were shot had an extensive criminal record but neither were armed.

I would say that he was carrying so as to be prepared for what happened. If he had not been carrying, what might have happened? We really do not have enough information about the exchange between the parties to know the answer to that.
Lots and lots of people find they've altered their lifestyle, habits, routines after they start carrying - some consciously, some subconsciously.
True and hopefully it wasn't an overreaction.

I like the last paragraph. Didn't want to cut and paste for copyright issues. Synopsis.

The city of Miami "ENSURE" the neighborhood safety and they have 5 security guards that "ENSURE" the patrons safety.

Looks like Diaz had to ensure his own safety. If the shooting was justified. The state will have to prove it wasn't justified under the reasonable person standard. They will have to prove that a reasonable person in that spot at that time with those two men would not be in fear for his life or fear great bodily harm. The article does not have much. Depends a lot on what "confronted" means.

The law states that you cannot carry into "any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose."

A club with dancing I always thought could be a grey area. The dance floor and areas imediately around the dance floor might be able to argue they are not primarily devoted to consuming alcohol.

    Amen brother.

It's affected my driving habits. The speed limit is just fine, all you have to do is leave a few minutes earlier. That douchbag that just cut you off.... He'll make a bad lane choice ahead and you will be in front of him at the next traffic light....

In this state, you are held to a higher level when you are issued a CPL.

This dance club is also a restaurant: I’ve heard the food is not bad at all; however, it is definitely not in a part of town I would go to at night. Then again, most dance clubs down here are in questionable areas most would avoid at night

BTW, there are a lot of people that like to dance and not all of them drink.

So I wonder what the two guys did to get shot? I am having a hard time seeing why they were shot.
