OK.. Helping a hapless member of this forum, and unfortunately, I'm braindead when it comes to Macs.

He has a router he used a couple of years ago in college, trying to use it now in his new place. Right now, his Mac is hooked directly to his high speed modem and all works fine.. If we hook it up modem-->router-->machine, he can log into the router fine, just can't get internet access. Renewed his DHCP lease, still no joy. Edit to add: The router has been reset also, so there's no confusion w/ the settings where it used to be setup.

Am I missing something? I've done the above numerous times w/ Linux machines and Windows machines, when setting up new routers, and had no problem.

Are you hooking up the Mac to the router with Ethernet or wireless?
