I've changed the firewall settings to "set access for specific services and applications".

OK, now what? Do I then have to click on the blank box below then click "+" to manually add every application in my application folder?

BTw I'm not currently sharing a printer or sharing files with any other computer.

EDIT: OK, found an answer. you simply do...nothing. Anytime you access an application that needs to connect to the internet a window will pop up asking you if you wish to allow or deny. Cool.

  2. I found out that off loading the Firewall function to my home router is much simpler and easier than using the MACOSX firewall function
