Hi, Mas. I'm considering getting a compact Smith M&P for carry. I don't want the magazine safety but I hate the looks of the white warning on the slide of the model that doesn't have this feature. I've read other people just buy the model with the mag safety and then remove it. That way I have no mag safety and no ugly white warning. By doing this am I leaving myself open to legal trouble in the event I have to use my gun to defend myself?

It's my experience that you don't want to give opposing counsel the argument, "This man is so reckless he deactivates the safety devices on lethal weapons!!!"

If you don't want a mag disconnector in your M&P auto, my advice would be to simply order it without. The lettering on the slide is irrelevant. Hell, we carry it concealed anyway, right?
