Hey everyone, I recently bought an M&P 15-22 and first off, the rifle is great. Good fit and finish and it feels pretty good in the hand. However, I have an affinity to modifying my firearms, all except my carry piece, so I set out to update the look and feel of the 15-22. I wanted to let you guys know about issues I ran into in case anyone else was going to venture down the same road.

    Magpul MOE Stock
    [IMG]
No problems with the install what so ever, just order the Mil-spec version. The MOE is tighter than the original M4 stock but it was not hard to put on.

    Magpul MIAD Grip
    [IMG]
Depending on which backstrap you choose, there will be a gap between the bottom of the tube and the top of the backstrap. Also the spring that holds the takedown pin in place does not fit very well with the MIAD grip. If you are not careful when putting the MIAD grip on, the spring becomes useless and the takedown pin can fall out.

Magpul XTM Modular Full Profile Picatinny Rail Cover and Low Pro Ladder Cover
    [IMG]
These went on very easily as is to be expected. The rails on the 15-22 are longer than standard carbine rails so it takes more than one pack of the XTMs to cover an entire rail. It takes a pack and a half to cover the entire rail on the 15-22. The Ladder Cover snaps on and off easily.

    Magpul Magazine Pulls

These work as to be expected and fit fine on the 15-22 25 round mags.

I cant wait to take it to the range and shoot it now that it is all sexy lookin' Hopefully a range report will follow shortly.

Nice job on it! I like your Moe buttstock and if it's tighter fitting I might get one.

I have a Moe grip on mine and there is a small gap but not so noticeable because I'm staying all black.

I mounted a scope on mine but removed it almost instantly. I love the weight of the rifle as is and once I added the scope it added about a pound and it changed the feel so much that I instantly took it off.

Now that I decided to stick with iron sights I'd like to find a set that are less bulky than the stock set. I found an airsoft website that has a lot of inexpensive options but don't know what to choose. Here is the link, http://www.ebairsoft.com/airsoft-parts-iron-sight-c-68_70.html
They are all copies of the good ones but for a 22 plinker I feel comfortable using these replicas.

I'd also be open to using one of the smaller low cost dot sights. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks,
    Seamaster

Dont know what your definition of "cheap" is but I have heard nothing but great things about these:

I plan on ordering a Multi Reticle M3 Clone and Magnifier for mine when funds allow.

By the way, the MOE stock is much tighter than the original.

Thanks for that link, I will check it out.

Regarding the Moe stock, is it the regular "Mil Spec" Moe stock that costs about $50?

    Thanks,
    Seamaster

I am running the Primary Arms Aimpoint clone on mine and think it is the perfect optic for the 15-22. I also have the 3x magnifier but leave it off most of the time. Marshal is a great guy to work with and very focused on customer service.

Yep, the 15-22 is Mil-Spec and that is about the going rate for a MOE stock.

Great looking M&P15-22, I like the green look. Have you seen any of the newer M&P15-22s with the factory installed flash hider? I just ordered one this afternoon, S&W should have done this from the beginning.

The flash hider looks just right on this gun. I wish mine had it.

Just picked one up with the flash hider last night in Tampa. They are out now.
