Looking for advice on a CCW

I've been patiently waiting for my LGS to get a 19 to come in and am getting a little anxious with all the talk of new firearm legislation.

I already own a 21 for HD, but would like to have a 19 for a CCW for it's smaller size and larger capacity.

Since I already own a .45, should I forget about the 19 and get a 30 or 36 to carry? I do prefer the 19's larger capacity, but don't want to wait 6 months to get it or even risk not getting another one at all. I also thought about carrying a 30 with a 21 magazine as a reload.

Either way I go, it's got to be a Gen4 so I can switch the magazine release (not sure if that's relevant or not).

I've heard nothing but great things about the 19 and everyone says that if you're going to own a Glock, you have to have one.

    What's your opinion?

There is no risk of the 19 being banned (unless you're in the state of New York, in which case it is already), but Obama is trying to push the 10 round mag limit back into law. So if you can find some Gen 4 full capacity mags for a 19, buy 'em...then whenever your LGS gets a Gen 4 19 in stock you can buy it.

If your left handed only Gen 4 mags work with the mag catch switched so unless you have Gen 4 mags for the 21 they won't work left handed in the 30. A Gen 4 19 comes with 3 mags so I wouldn't be real concerned about that. So what I would do is buy the 30 and then when a 19 becomes available I'm sure you could trade or sell the 30 for it. HTH.

Personally, I like to keep things simple. If you already shoot .45, I'd stick with .45. (But the 19 is a sweet gun.)

    Just one man's opinion.

A Glock 36 plus two extra mags equals 19 rounds of.45 ACP, is smaller than a G19 and has a heck of a lot more stopping power. Who needs anything more for CCW?
