Hey all you guys and girls out there that like to shoot the .40 S&W and or 357 Sig but like the 9mm too. Lone Wolf makes a simple drop in conversion barrel. My test subject is the Gen 4 Glock 22. Simply field strip the Glock and replace the stock barrel with the Lone Wolf conversion barrel. My Wife likes the little wolf picture engraved on the barrel. OK, so do I because it also has 40-9 on it. Good to be visually reminded that I do in fact have the conversion barrel installed. Now with a 9mm magazine load up, take aim and shoot. WOW I hit where I was aiming. Traditionally I have been at least 2 inches low shooting .40's with this gun. A couple more shots and I am not making a ragged hole but, very smooth shooting it is. Went through some magazine changes, slide locks back on empty mag, mag drops free, new mag feeds first round, very nice. Now the Wife takes over and very nice groups. Much tighter than with the .40 because she is not having to anticipate or flinch. My groups were much tighter too because of the same reasons. After the range session my Wife says, "WOW, my hand does not hurt." I had to agree. Shooting the 9mm was very easy on the hands. The Gen 4 has a rough texture with all the little square bumps on it and GRIPS very good. I do like it but after shooting the .40 my hands are feeling it. Now for someone that actually works with your hands it won't be an issue but my baby smooth ones are so sensitive. So here is the down and dirty. For ammo I was using a mixture of PMC, +P reloads and Winchester White Box. Magazines were 1 Glock 9mm, 3 Korean 9mm, 1 Glock .40 and I even tried the .40 thunder stick 30 rounder. About 85 rounds shot, the Wife had one stove pipe at first and the thunder stick failed to feed on the last round. And yes I made it THUNDER! Glock and Korean 9mm magazines so far there are no issues. Even the Glock .40 magazine loaded with 9mm will work. The thunder stick was tried just because, so it failing to feed the last round was no real surprise. Some of the brass was ejecting forward and some to the right rear. So far none to the head. My goal was not to put 100,000 rounds through it at one time. I wanted to see how it would do with magazine changes, what type of magazines would work or fail and the overall feel. I believe my Wife was pleasantly surprised with how much smoother the G22 was with the 9mm and that is the biggest challenge for the Lone Wolf. Two thumbs up.

I use my 40-.357 Sig LW barrel for the G27 as a test of a 3 hole compensator. As long as I only had to order a barrel that was about an inch longer then the factory, there was plenty of room for the slots to stick out from the front of the slide. An interesting barrel, nothing radically different. Like shooting .40.
I have 2 LWD 40 to 9 conversion barrels, which have each cycled 1000s of rounds without any issues. They should just as well as their factory counterparts. These barrels are great for taking new shooters to the range.
I have had a LWD barrel in my G22 for several years. Tried one in my G23 and it works great. NO issues if you use 9mm mags. I bought a Gen4 G27 a few months ago and had no issues with the 40 but the muscles in my shooting hand hurt. So..I got another 40/9 for the 27. Now no problems with the 27 and think what I have save in shooting cheap 9mm instead of the 40. Oh by the way I have removed my reverse curve on the trigger guard and Dremeled out the front strap under the mag release to get a higher hand hold on these three Glocks as well as my G36 and G34.
Wasn't too long ago I posted (somewhere) that a great addition to a bug out bag would be the barrels for 9mm, .40, and .357Sig and the associated mags which would provide *ultimate* flexibility for ammo you might happen to run across....
So I added them to my BOB too...
Nice review Bruzer - glad to hear it helped your wife's shooting. Won't be long before she will be quite comfortable with your *New & Improved* Glock!
All that money you night have spent on the G17 someone recommended can now be converted into practice ammo!
The literature that came with the LWD 40-9 for my G23 warned that some guns will stove pipe with 115g 9mm. That was true with my new gun. A case of 40 later and it all better. The recoil spring is now limber enough to run WWB 9mm flawlessly through it. I also got the LWD 357 Sig G32 barrel. Sweet in all calibers. No other mods. Thumbs up for LWD.
I own three Storm Lake barrels & one Lone Wolf conversion barrel and have had no problems with any of them. I purchased a 357sig Storm Lake barrel for my Glock 27, but now wish I had spent the extra $50 and bought a Glock oem 357sig barrel instead. Even though I've had no problems with the Storm Lake barrel, I'd still prefer to carry my Glock with an oem barrel installed just to be safe about it. That might be my next purchase...
UPDATE: Got the new and improved latest and greatest G17 Gen 4 recoil spring assembly (RSA) stamped 1-2-4. Had the Wife shoot the first few shots and NO FAILURES using 9mm target ammo. It has a much better recoil feel using the target ammo now.
It is my opinion if you use a 40-9 conversion barrel and are having failures using the stock .40 RSA and 9mm target ammo, give the 9mm RSA a try. It cost me $20 for the RSA and I believe my Wife will have a better shooting experience now.

What about an upgrade conversion? I have a Gen4 G17 and heard some people successfully used a G22 slide with .40 magazines in the same G17 frame.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
Out of curiosity I tried a .40 mag in my G17 and it would not drop free. It was well used though so maybe the sides are bent.

I got a OEM G33 barrel for my G27 "just to be safe".
It nose dives at the ramp BAD on GDHPs.
That's what got me started with aftermarket barrels in the first place.
I haven't gotten my 357 from Storm Lake yet.
But my three other SL barrels (G23/40, G23/40-9 and G27/40-9) have been flawless. So I'm not too worried about the SL 357.
Can I use the Lone Wolf 229 conversion barrel in my glock 27 I know it will stick out about an inch but for practice that should not bother me.
