    light and sling.

what kind of set up do you guys run

    i.e
6 oclock light with 9 sling attachment
6oclock sling with 9 light attachment
    9 and 9
    6 and 6
is your sling attached just past the fore grip or as a magazine cap?

    ps i'm right handed

If I was going to run a sling I'd run a GG&G sling plate under the mag tube extension and between the stock and receiver at the 9 o'clock position. I'm right handed. A VCAS sling would probably be my choice.

I have my sling at 6 and my light at 9. I'm also right handed.

My light (TLR-1) is attached on a Streamlight mount that goes between the barrel ring and mag extension coupler. The sling is on the stud on the bottom of the mag clamp.

Surefire foreend is the only light for a shotgun IMO.

The sling does get in the way of cycling the action with the Surefire foreend, I have tested it myself.

A 1 point sling with the attachment mounted between the stock and reciever is the best setup IMO.

However, do you really need a sling for a HD shotgun? Mine is a patrol shotgun and a sling is a necessity. My HD gun does not have a sling.

i like slings on all my long guns.
a long gun w/o a sling is like a handgun without a holster

  6. 6 o'clock light with 9 o'clock sling attachment on most of my shotguns.

    Circling the wagons.
And most guys that are awakened in the middle of the night and reach for their pistol don't take the time to put on a holster, either.

a lot of people don't grab a holster
    that doesnt mean that's good

there are instances where you may need to secure your gun and a pocket is unacceptable.

I stripped and wrecked my barrel/mag tube clamp on my 870 trying to put a sling on it by the light so I had to get creative. Now I have a light at 6 o'clock and the sling out of the way by the pistol grip and the end of the butt stock. I don't think the sling is essential for a home defense shotgun but I like the idea of being able to use both hands without having to put down the gun.

I run a 3 point sling on all my shotguns at 9 and 9. My only shotgun with a light is my 870 and its a Surefire Forend. The Specter CQB with a quick detach is a great 3 pt sling.
