So much for "it just works".
Went to install the Lego Mindstorm NXT 2.0 software on my iMac.
    The CD/DVD drive has failed.
The iMac is less than 2 months old and this is the first CD/DVD I've ever inserted in the drive.
Looks like it was DOA from Apple.
btw: the CD is good because I already installed the program on my MBAir.
Oh yea, the Apple external "Superdrive" only works with the Air, you cannot use it with the iMac.
    F*You Apple.
As soon as finances allow I'm dumping Macs.

This is the 3rd Apple product failure I've had in 2 months of Mac ownership.
    DOA mouse
    DOA Time Capsule
    DOA iMac CD/DVD

Call them and they might give you free goodies to keep you.
  6. My first experience with Apple was with my wife's iPhone 4. At the time I was on my third android phone. She loved it, bragged about it and I picked it up and saw how seemless and amazing it operated. My android phone had since stopped working properly after an update, like my other previous android phones. I'm sure some of this is user error, but all I did was accept updates.

Then she wanted an iPad. After spending some time on it and watching how those two synced perfectly with eachother, and neither having any problems at all over 2 years, yesterday I surprised her with an iMac 27" with 1TB hard drive. I bought it used - 1 year old for a really good deal after researching prices online. She woke me up with the all the squealing and yelling. Happy wife = Happy life. She loves it so much she wants to keep it in our living room.

Now I have an iPhone5, and so far it's been the best phone I've ever owned. It has been perfect in every way. My son got his own iPad yesterday as well, and it appears we are slowly migrating to Mac. We do have one PC in our house which my son will have to use in his room, if I can figure out how to get the viruses off of it. Which in my experience with PC's viruses are a constant issue even with Anti-virus, anti mal-ware, spy-ware running. I think I'm just terrible with computers, and hopefully this wont be the case with the iMac.

Crap happens to all of them, Apple buys the same inside stuff that all the rest buy and it's all made in China. While I haven't had any problems I got an email from Apple saying the HDD in my 2011 IMac "may" fail, I think it's made by seagate, and Apple is going to go ahead and replace it all free of charge. Never had another company treat me like that. I think their customer service is what sits them a notch above others plus you can actually understand them if you ever have to call.

You need to conform to the Mac Lifestyle better. Then it'll stop breaking. Its your fault.

Guy in our office went through 3 motherboards on his Macbook. Finally they just lemon'd it and gave him a new one.

    Yeah, superior parts.

What poor customer service, giving a guy a new computer after trying to fix the old one!

Meh, par for the course. If anything, I would've expected one mobo then a new machine. 3 is simply where, legally, you get into lemon law territory.
