Just emailed my local gun store just to check up on availability of uppers. They told me they didnt have any factory built uppers, but they had some custom uppers they built in house. Now i've used them many times and I trust them, but I fear they are stretching the price tag a tad bit on this one.

Their "custom" upper consists of a "Daniel Defense upper with an FNH barrel, Yankee HIll rail and mil spec parts" for $700. To me, this seems a steep since the internals are probably some random "mil spec" BCG, charging handle, etc. Seem like a fair price?

Nope. DD complete uppers can be had for 800 or less all day. Pass on "custom" and go for "known".

That's what I figured. They usually have great prices, but they dropped the ball on this one.

Im going PSA. Almost saved up enough for the complete upper I want. Should order in the next two weeks.

I usually like to support the local guys, but no one local has anything for a good price. Oh well, I guess ill just support my home state then!

Well you're making two smart moves--no Guns Plus and going PSA.

    My PSAs run flawlessly.

I've given them enough chances and they still end up screwing it up

After some unexpected financial delays, I'm finally back on tract for my build, and i'm not going for the "custom" option.

Going PSA Lower build kit for $90, PSA complete "16 upper for $458, on my spikes stripped lower. 90+458+95= 653. Not too bad if I do say so myself. Missing anything?

Does that $458 include BCG, charging handle, rear sight, and handguards?

Does the lower kit include a stock?

Don't forget shipping and FFL fee. Since you already have the lower, you skip the federal excise tax.

I'm working on a PSA build right now. Got a PSA stripped lower for $108, and lower parts kit for $90. Looking at a PSA upper assembly that is CHF including bolt carrier group for $517. This gives me a decent rifle for a cost of $715. I have a friend who has an extra flip up rear sight, so I won't have to order one of those right now. Just need to get the upper ordered so I can get it put together.
