I'm thinking of getting a 2nd Gen G21 soon for woods carry. Curious to see how people are carrying them. Anyone carry a G21 in the backcountry? Lets see 'em.

You are using a drop leg to walk around in the woods?

    Interesting.

    Pros and cons?

Since bear and mountain lion frequent our camp spots, my Ruger Bisley Hunter in .44 mag goes with me when camping---sometimes my CAR-15.

I have a OD G20 that I use for hunting,ATV'ing, and general woods type of stuff. This is not a dedicated range or CC weapon.

I cannot/would not use a drop leg type of rig to carry it in due to the very thick brush and vines that I am constantly going through down here in the swamps of Fla. My weapon is carried in a Blackhawk SERPA with long shirt pulled down to cover the weapon.

My G20 has been modified to the extent of >> 3.5# connector, extended slide stop lever, green slide cover plate,TruGlo TFO sights,a very thorough $.25 trigger job including chamber and bbl ramp polished, and a "butt plug" installed.

I practice with Blazer 200gr. FMJ's that I buy from Acadamy for $12.76 for 50. I carry DT 180gr. XTP's when my 4.6"bbl is installed. And for hunting, with my 6" OEM bbl installed, I carry DT 200gr. WFN hardcast. All 3 of these loads shoot to the same POI(@ 25yds) w/o sight ajustment.

    lol ya ..

ya i love my uncle mikes drop leg .. it has an elastic band thats VERY easy to adjust .. can go from small to big ..

it has a thumb release , and also a velcro tab that can be pulled over the thumb release ..

it fits any handgun that i own which was surprising to me..

but i carry g22 in it .. not quite a 21 .. but same size at least .. then i carry 2 spare magazines in an uncle mikes pouch .. i like the leg platform because it allows for quick draw while riding in vehicles, quads, dirt bikes, etc ..

also its very comfortable . . doesnt pull your pants down .. dont even feel its there ..

plus theres the quick draw feature .. heres a video of me drawing and firing ..

    Shooting link for Vid

Not very Rambo but when checking timber I carry a G19 in a Fobus paddle (no need for a belt when wearing jeans). Cover it with a loose untucked shirt. The only worries in the N. Louisiana/ E. Texas woods are snakes, wasps and feral dogs. Forgot to mention folks with their meth labs.

lol i aint going for the rambo look .. im going for the "get the gun out and on target as quick as possible.." and with that holster it is VERY quick ..

around here we have a LOT of marijuana "crops" that people stumble upon .. the people guarding these lots are VERY well armed .. i feel underarmed compared to them ..

also a lot of snakes .. coyotes .. bob cats .. etc etc ..

Hey Harley - When I mentioned my set-up as "not very Rambo" I wasn't talking about your holster, I was talking about my G19 compared to the G20 10mms.

We have those "heavy timber farmers" in Louisiana too.

I use the blackhawk CQC holster for my G21 when messing around in the woods, if possible I have some kind of long gun with me though.
