Kinda apples-and-oranges. The 'Vette is an all-around better performer, but I think the Mustang might be more liveable in day-to-day driving (more interior & cargo space). I like the new Mustang's style more than that era Corvette, but I'm a Mustang guy so what do you expect :) Depends on what you want and what you'd use it for.

Vette is faster and handles better (assuming LS1/C5, '97-'04), but the Mustang is more practical and more of an all-around fast fun car. Plus, unless you're in your 50's or older and it's an automatic, you'll look way out of place in a Corvette. ;)

Those years vettes have poor quality. The '06 'vettes are a bit better, but 45K$.

The '06 Mustangs have a decent-good reliabilty rep.

The 'vette will handle, brake, get better gas mileage, and accelerate quicker, but you will have more problems with it and repairs are expensive.

The Mustang will give you fewer problems and will be under warranty.

I know a few people who have these cars. My advice for you is to buy the Mustang GT.

Corvette all the way. It's already taken the depreciation hit and the brand new mustang has not. You will get a lot more money back out of the vette. Plus the Chevy acutally gets better mpg.

Keep in mind that the mustang is supposed to get a styling/power update in late 08. If you can wait a year and a half or so you should be able to pick up current stangs REALLY cheap.

Lets put it this way!!! The new Mustangs will chirp going into 4th gear! Therefore, you must buy a new Mustang!

But of course, like Fox I am biased!!!

    Corvette.

The LS1 is a better engine with more aftermarket potential than the new Mustang GTs.

The Vette is also lighter, handles better, looks better (to most, opinions vary of course), brakes better...in other words it is a better all around performing car. You cannot argue that fact.

It will hold up just fine.

Hard to say. I keep reading 2009 model or 2010 model will be something newer looking.

You could always ask yourself, do you want a sportscar, or a muscle car?

Doesn't the Corvette win both of those categories?

Technically I believe a muscle car has four *seats*, but still...

In my mind, a muscle car seats at least four. Impalas were 2 doors! Granted some were 4. Therefore a Corvette is a sportscar, whilst a Mustang is a Muscle car!

I meant to say four seats, not four doors. *bangs head*

    Corvette all of the way.
Find a clean one with high miles and then replace the
heads/cam/timing chain and you'll have one kick butt car.

The 03/04 Cobras are still a little pricey. Not the lightest either....nice power, great top end and with exhaust/pulley/chip....look out.

Not really. They can be found for about $25000 with 30K miles on them. They are about 3650lbs, which is 100lbs more than an '05- Mustang.
