LaserMax Guiderod Lazers????

Discussion in 'Carry Issues' started by AndrewG23, Apr 7, 2012.

  1. I have seen some reviews on them and been considering about investing in one. I am wondering if anyone has seen one that did not Flicker. Even on a Lasermax demonstration video the RedDot Flickered.... I also feel that its quite pricy for a flickering laser!

  3. At the price of the guiderod laser, i would suggest thinking seriously about this maybe borrowing one and try it out, the reason I say this is i bought one for a S&W .40 and was very excited when I got it. Then noticed that I never used it. I had wished that I had gotten a set of night sights and used the rest of the money to put down another Glock. I know that people have different likes but now after having one I would not buy another one. Also when you put it on the target you see any movement there may be in the gun and it exagerates the further from the target you are. Just my opinion.

I had lots of problems with mine.

It went back to the factory and was supposedly replaced.

It still has problems. Turns itself on/off whenever it feels like it.

I gave up. Its a damned cat toy that may or may not work.

I also have a rail-mount laser from LaserMax and it is even worse. I gave up on this one as well. It puts out different intensity levels at different times. On/off is also intermittent. This one made more than one trip back to the factory.

    My opinion?
Spend your money on ammo. Too late for me.

    barth six barrels

Have one of the original LaserMax guide rod replacements for my P220.
    Looked cool.
    Fun to show off.
The on off switch was poorly placed.
And would have been hard to actually use if needed.
I pulled it out and never use it.

Added Big Dot 24/7 Express sights later.
    Much better investment IMHO.
Now those I use - LOL!

I like mine; however, after 30-40 shots at the range, the lens gets covered with muzzle blast and no longer shines.

So for a personal defense situatin in the dark: good, constant range firing: not so good.
  8. I had 2, one I sold. The other went back to for a refund. Very unreliable. Nuff said!

  9. Yea thankyou all for your opinions. I do think its pretty cool tho none of my friends have one or on that fact prolly never heard of one.. I think it would be just cool to show off and a good conversation piece. But on the other hand yea i much rather invest into another gun for that high of a price lmao

Ive used LaserMax since 2003 and they have been great for me. Cost is high but you pay for what you get. This is a good option if you dont want a Crimson Trace (they have good lasers) that dosent make a grip bigger or set under the rail. The are external lasers that LaserMax makes that go the the rail. There is also the Laser/light combos like the TLR-2s. And also the Laserlyte one that replaces the rear sight but its been hit or miss.

  11. Yea but im more interested in the GuideRod lasers if anything. I just wanna know if anyone who has one, has one that dosnt flicker..? Flickering red dot can give your position away pretty good in the dark compared to if it wasnt flickering.
  12. Mine flickers, still a piece of crap though.

    It's designed to flicker.
  14. I bought a used G27 that had the lasermax guide rod installed in it. The pistol looked barely used so I figured it was worth the 500 I paid for it. Mine works great, though I really didn't need a laser. I don't find any issue with a blinking point and shoot, whats the problem. Like someone else said, use that laser cash and buy some good night sights and maybe a flashlight or something, I know I can live without it.
  15. i have had a couple, never had a problem with them but... they are made from some soft plastic and i felt like they were just waiting to fly apart inside the gun.

that is not flickering, it is designed to strobe, it gives the laser a brighter dot for less battery usage.
  16. Hmmm good info. i thought it was just poorly designed so it flickered.. Yea but i cant holster with a flash light and all these accessories are quite pricy. ill prolly just leave it the way it is. I dont need a flashlight my LEDs in my hat work just fine hehe
