What is the proper term?? I use the term 'laptop' for any portable clamshell-style computer.... What's the difference between the two?

Clip vs. Magazine comes to mind as a similar argument... to me - they are magazines unless they are bananna in shape hanging out of a dreaded assault rifle... ;e

  3. I think it's just a marketing name. When things were getting miniturized, smaller was better."Notebook" sounded more compact than "laptop".Most people still say laptop but once one company started the term notebook the rest felt they had to follow to not sound old fashioned.I've heard a few different terms for "jet-ski".ATV's are called something else these days too.In America there was first 6 wheeedl ATV's then the 3 wheeled ones. Now in America you only see 4 wheelers. In other counties I've heard them called many things.
