Did LAPD ever reinstate the Glock 21 to duty status?
Have the alleged malfunctions be corrected in the Gen 4 mod 21s?

Of all the gen 4 models the 21 seems to have the best rep for reliability that I have seen on the forums or anywhere. Mine worked fantasmical...or normal anyways

Curious about this? I haven't heard of anything going wrong with the G21.

I heard the SIS switched back to Glocks from the Kimbers a year or two ago, so I bet they are on the list again...

So how was the light strikes problem fixed? I never heard of light strikes problems with any Glock models before.

Are we really having a thread to discuss that the LAPD had a small problem with the G21 seven years ago?

It is and has been my opinion for a long time that aside from the usual qc issues and Glocks production changes, most if not all of the issues we see are ammo related, if not en tirely all.

Standard PD training calls for range work to be done with carry ammo around every six months. No one does that with fresh ammo. The only time you get properly stored ammo is if it is straight range ammo. Figure that each officer is packing 4 mags and likely one box at least out of the patrol car stash. This cycles out and fresh new or out of stores factory ammo goes back in the mags and back to duty, somtimes straight from the range. Cleaning, maybe, if the radios not active.

Figure some non gunwise officers not cleaning, high heat exposure ammo, and you get light strikes or even kabooms.

A unit LAPD size and as gunwise as they are, a immersion cleaner for the slides before leaving the range, quick armorer check. Maybe ammo swaps every three months in the LA summers. This seems to have been a non gun issue.
