I'm in the market for a compact 1911, chambered in .45ACP, and have narrowed down my search to either the Kimber Pro CDP ii or the Sprinfield EMP. To those who have experience with the two, which is your preference and why?

What should I expect to pay for either model?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Right behind you...
The EMP only comes in .40 or 9mm. The Springfield micro line comes in .45

Well, that pretty much solves that.

Personally I would go Colt or SA.

Oops I guess I didnt mean the EMP then! I'm really open to other manufacturers but I've always tended to lean towards Springfields and Kimbers.

What model is this? I like that finish

  7. I've had a Kimber CDP and I currently have an EMP in .40. You can't beat the EMP for the size. If I had to do it again I would go with an EMP in 9mm since it has an aluminum frame instead of steel like the .40. The CDP is an excellent gun, but the EMP fit my needs for CC better.

Hard to go wrong with either. I give the "feel" to Kimber for the frontstrap checkering, but SA makes one hell of a pistol. I've never shot the EMP9, but have shot the EMP40 and liked it alot. I have 2 Kimber Ultras(UCII and Raptor) and both are great guns. I actually posted a thread about my UCII, as possibly being the most accurate 1911 that I own...and I have a few pretty good ones. :whistling:

I have a CDP Pro and love it... The EMP is definitely an amazing firearm, but I would choose my CDP over it everyday...

Is the reliability just as good with the Ultra as it is the Pro?

A friend is selling a Pro CDP 2 NIB for a pretty good deal.

I have a couple of Ultras and a few Pros. Haven't had any issues with any of them. On a side note, I ONLY use Wilson and Tripp Cobra mags in ALL of my 1911's and pretty much exclusively use Gold Dots as SD ammo. I have ran quite a few other of the "top" brand SD ammo through them and haven't had any issues with any kind of ammo. I just prefer the Gold Dots accuracy and performance.

Wow, I can't believe I would come across a post like this right now. I just posted this question without even looking for a thread like this and frankly didn't think there would be anything like this out there...

    Oh well.
