What I have here is my opinion of the best carry .45. It is a kimber 4 inch bullbarrel lightweight commander that I had Dave at www.dvsmallarms.com bobtail and put a single sided safety on for less printing. I just got it back after only a 6 week turn around time. I haven't shot it yet since getting it back but, plan to soon. I just put on my Haken Pek custom grips and decided to take some pics.

Anyway, on to the gun porn. (my digital camera is probally older then me, so excuse the clarity)

Dave may not be well known, but he does great work . His turn around time is quick and his prices are reasonable.

Haha, sorry....couldn't resist. Dude, that still is the sexiest CBOB I have ever seen....hands down. :faint:

  7. Looks like quality work. I'm sure you'll get along great!

I'm not a fan of bob-tails, just don't feel right in my hands, but they are really popular right now.

Dave tricked out my STI trojan and did a fantastic job. His work was flawless and his turn around was fast.

Nice pistol....I have two of Dave Helton prepped 5" 1911's with Bobtails (one in .38 Super and one in .45) and have one Kimber Ultra Elite (Gen 1) pistol at his shop right now. Dave does nice work, is affordable and fairly decent turn-around times, although he has kind of piled up right now.

He did a sweet job on that snakeskin on Wade's PC. That looks really good.

Yea Dave used to be a great little known pistol smith but, he is quickly becoming more popular. I love the work he did on my CDP

That is not a Baer....just a Baer Premier slide on a Caspian frame. Dave actually built this pistol for himself, but I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to buy it from him. The grips are slimline VZ Operators. It is a real nice shooter.
