If that means anything to you, man, you know how happy I am right now. I just had a pound of gut bomb super deli and one of the best cheesecakes known to man.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! Mmmmmmmmmm!

Think I will crawl over to the Starbucks at the corner of Westheimer and finish this food coma!

Sorry, dude. I dig your ranchillac but can't do K&Z. It's way overpriced for a whole lot of ok food.

I prefer K&Z over Katz' any day! But I like the matzah soup at both places. Last time I was there I had that sandwich made with two latkes... Good and gross at the same time, they were quite greasy tasting.

Good move! K&Z is my favorite deli in Houston! Best Rueben sandwich in the state and their Matzo ball soup is to die for.

And yes, K&Z blows Katz clean out of the water!

I have never been to the Katz in Houston. I used to hit up the one in Austin often but alas, it is gone. I like them both but Kenny and Ziggys is overall better but it "kloses"

After I got my Kenny and Ziggys on and convalesced at the Starbucks on the corner, I drove past the Katz just up the road, man was it PACKED.

I honestly dont know if Houston is a "great" city. It is a mega large, flat, ultra hot and humid concrete jungle that never ends but I sure like it.

Otto's is a BBQ house on McKinney whose claim to fame is that they are George Bush (41)'s favorite eatery. He and Barbara can be found eating there from time-to-time.

Personally, I think Luling City Market is much better, but Otto's does do a good Kobe burger.

I ask myself every day during the Summer "Why the hell did they choose to build this city in a freakin' SWAMP"?

Still, Houston has personality...and it's home.

Ah....BBQ. I am a mild fan of BBQ (it is Lady Rabbi's favorite). If the subject turns to BBQ I simply lack the knowledge or passion to be a part of such a conversation.

I grew up in "The Village" area and my family's favorite deli was on Rice Blvd. I don't remember the name and I don't even think it is there anymore. I'm getting hungry right now thinking of those days. I'll have to try your place, Rabbi, when I'm back home someday.

Also, speaking of BBQ in Houston, I grew up stuffing myself with Jimmy Goode's BBQ. He was a buddy of my uncle and his sporting friends. Other than the great BBQ, his establishments have that certain Texas ambiance. I ate with my family in his seafood restaurant on I-10 last year and my uncle said Jimmy's whereabouts are unknown....strange.

Rabbi, I used to work near there, been a long time though...

Jtull, I've been to Otto's too, downtown.

And, I'll add Treebeards to the waxing nostalgic list. They are still around, but I haven't been there in years.

Happily, there's no "nostalgia" for me on that front. I work downtown and drop in on Treebeards at least once a week.

I can't get enough of their red beans and rice!

Lucky bastige! I'm way up in Conroe now and never seem to have occasion to go downtown.

We should try to get some fellow GT'rs together to hit a range and grab lunch one weekend.

Top Gun is pretty central, albeit expensive and unimpressive, it's not bad.

Name the time and place and I'll be there.
