I was looking at a semi (FN SLP) but could not overlook the reliability of a pump. Cabelas had them for $469 - $300 for a Ruger Vaquero trade in - $75 Cabelas coupon - $15 Cabelas Club coupon = $79 HD shotgun! I am looking at putting a 6P led on it. Might wait and see. Can't wait to shoot it.

Congrats man. You need to post some picks up though. That is the same exact shotgun I want but I think I want to get the bead sights on it. I wanted the Ghost Ring sights at first but I think I changed my mine. Does yours have the Speedfeed stock? The one I want doesn't come with it but I might put one on it. I never see any 590a1's in stores and I'm not sure about ordering off the internet yet. I'll have to check out the Cabela's in Wheeling,WV one day and see if they have any.

just curious but why would you change your mind on the ghost ring sights? I am guessing because you want to shoot skeet or trap or something?

GRS do make that harder but a 590A1 isnt really setup for that anyway since its built to MIL-SPEC standards and is thick & heavy.

A 590A1 is a fighting shotgun and some fights may require longer distance slug shots which GRS make a dream.

I have that exact shotgun, plus an 18.5" 590a1 tuned by Hans Vang. Both have ghost rings, as any top of the line combat shotgun should. I've sold off my 870's and my Benelli M2, because I truly believe the 590a1 is the superior combat shotgun.

They are fantastic shotguns, and you got a good deal on yours.

Agreed, GRS's take a little bit to get used too, but once you acclimate yourself with them you'll love em.

Here are a few pics. Sorry for the quality - wife left the camera at her mothers - I had to use my cell phone.

Just picked up a Surefire 6P led. I am going to see if I like a light on it before I decide to drop $350 on a Surefire foreend.

I have this L&M mount on the way along with a click tail switch for my Surefire 6P. I'll post pics when I have it mounted.

Arent all 590's 20"? Hence the "9" in 590 as in 9 shot? This would mean you cant have an 18" barrel 590 correct?

  13. The 590's have 20" barrels but they do make a 590A1 with 18" barrels though.

    Congrats on your 590A1 Jay!

I've had one for a couple of years. Mine is a 590A1 Heavy. A very robust shotgun, to be sure... even though I'm an 870 guy at heart.

The only complaint I have with this SG is that it's front heavy, especially when loaded down. My SGs are for duty. The weight makes one handed use, tac reloads, a challenge to keep muzzle up and on target.

I just picked up my 18" from the local gun shop. I bought it from Bud's and had it delivered there.
