So today I got to pick my MOS since I took my asvab yesterday, had 28 jobs available, almost picked 35N (Signals Intelligence Analyst) as there were only 3 spots available, within 5mins that MOS was all gone, so I ended up going with my first choice all along as 11x and signed up for Airborne as well. I'm scheduled to leave for Ft. Benning later in February, and I can't help but say I'm excited as hell. Since I Have my degree already I'll also come out of BCT/AIT/BAT as an E4-Specialist. Hooah!

BTW, i meant SPOT not SPIT ;).

Having a degree is a good thing, starting out an E4 is more money for you. For your sake, after basic, when you get to your unit, do not brag that you are an E4 right out of basic to anyone... trust me.

Thanks for serving. With the degree, is there a reason you didn't try to go as an officer?

I didn't feel like going through OCS because I wanted to start from the bottom and work my way up (minus the E4 thing, I want my money) and be able to understand the ropes of the military before I begin to command anything or anyone.

Swore in earlier today at MEPS, got the MOS I reserved and wanted, 11x with airborne, and received everything in my contract my recruiter promised me. I'm currently in the DEP, Army Reserve, for the next 5 1/2 months until I ship out 201102. I feel like one heck of a blessed future soldier. Hooah!

A lot of gung-ho recruits think that. Later you will come to think of that as a dumb idea you had.

Congrats, and thanks for volunteering. My son just swore in last week. Tried to go 11B, but he's color blind. So that pretty much eliminates any combat MOS. Color blind in red and green, got his drivers license, but he can't be in infantry or MP. So their going to train him to be a truck driver.:dunno:

    Appreciate all the support guys!

And Yeah, infantry you pretty much have to Ace the entire physical. But everything happens for a reason, best of luck to your Son as well, when does he ship out?
