Just got a phone call

Discussion in 'Hunting, Fishing & Camping' started by vafish, Dec 16, 2009.

  1. Just got a phone call from a land owner where I have permission to hunt.

She went to leave her house this morning and saw this in the bushes by her front door:

She took the photo withe her cell phone, went back into the house to get the digital camera. Deer got up and hobbled off at the flash from the camera. She said it's front leg was dangling and he kept falling down. I'm guessing he was hit by a car.

This is at the same property I shot this guy last year:

  2. Go back and put him out of his misery, it is the right thing to do. Or call DNR and have them do it.

Looks like he has a goofy rack, one side looks great the other isn't unless a few tines broke off when he was hit

Doesn't look like the tines are broke off. Just an irregular rack. Nice deer either way
  4. Landowner looked for him and couldn't find him. She called the DGIF (DNR here in VA) and they didn't have anyone available. County police did come by, walked around for a couple of minutes and said they couldn't find him.

I got Friday and Saturday off, I'll see if I can find him. Problem is it's a small plot of land, pretty good chance he hobbled off onto another property.

He is most likely going to look for some good cover to crawl up into. Hope you find him.
  6. He hasn't been seen again so far.
