I have been using my iPhone and my iPad for all home computing needs since about September of last year. I thought the iPad could replace a "real" computer when my old laptop shot craps. And while it DOES work for about 90% of the work I need, even with a bluetooth keyboard, it can be cumbersome doing some tasks.

Today I bought a new laptop - a spanking new Macbook Pro. I think I had forgotten how nice it is to post using a real live keyboard.

It's early, as it still has its "new car smell", so to speak. But so far, I really like it. It boots faster than my work laptop, and seems to be pretty intuitive to use, especially for an iPad user.

Any other Apple fans out there? I know there are haters too, but wondering if Apple and Glocks are a normal mix, or if I just stepped into the "Twilight Zone".

I just want to say that this thread will not end well.

    Anyway, welcome over my friend!

    Apple products in my house:

    17" MBP
    15" MBP
    13" MBP
    13" MB
    11" MBA
    iPad x3
    iPhone x2
    Apple TV (old) x2

I agree with you on the iPad not being able to replace a laptop. I was in love with mine for about a month. Now I'm basically convinced is was designed to drive iTunes revenue.

That new car smell? Nice knowing in 5 or 6 years it'll still run exactly the same.

How are you liking multitouch gestures? Once they get imprinted in you nothing else will do.

Multitouch gestures make my PC laptop feel old and cumbersome.

Two iPads (one for the missus), two iPhones (again, for the missus) and iPods for each kid. Now a real live Apple.

I have my teflon undergarments on. I expect some haters to flame.

Glad to see you are a fellow Glock/Apple guy - now I know I am in good company.

If I had to choose between being gay and having a Mac, I'd pick being gay. Because if I had a Mac, then I'd be gay and have a ****ty computer.

Ok I'm just kidding, I have lots of apple stuff. And I'm straight.

Count me in as a "hater". Well, not exactly a hater, more like indifferent - never had a Mac and not going to get one in the nearest future. They just don't do much for me.

Congrats on your announcement! It's always nice to show your love of a product with such a declaration. Apple seems like a nice little group to be a part of. Hope you enjoy the folks who make up the "family".

I've seen them, played with them, know people who use them (and people who converted to Windows on their Mac hardware). Don't get me wrong, Apple has nice hardware, good OS and great marketing. But they just don't offer anything for me that I can't do on my PC.

Congratulations! I would love to have a MBP, but I am too poor. Did you get the retina display model?

BTW, I just bought a Dell Latitude E6410 with Intel Core i7 and Nvidia NVS 3100M graphics. For $350 used. I guess I am too cheap or poor to drop a $1K for a Mac.

That's just a side benefit. Welcome to the "it still has a real terminal" side.

So when it doesn't always work you can go in and make it.

I like my Mac, but it will never do what my windows 7 PC will do: run my 3 room shared dvr with 7 hd tuners. Game over.

Apple fanboys are like Atheists, they don't believe in the all mighty God, so they want everyone else to not believe in the All mighty God and see how cool they are by not believing.
