my Colt Combat Commander feeds about anything but I stay with either Gold Dot or HSTs and have never heard of anyone having issues with them. also Winchester Ranger T would be another concideration.

I'm currently running Hornady TAP and it feeds in my full size Sig Scorpion with no issues.

Gold Dots are what I prefer.
If a pistol will not feed them, it gets Golden Sabers.

My SA RO eats every factory Jhp I've tried(8-9 various types) and every one I've reloaded as long as I've kept the OAL above 1.20.

RIA GIFS wasn't the best with HPs, until I did a little tune-up on the extractor. After that little bit of fluff and buff, it feeds everything I've put in it, including Winchester, Hornaday Critical Duty, Critical Defense, and the Gold Dots I use for carry.

Nothing wrong with ball ammo, the 1911 earned its reputation as a man stopper with it. Jeff Cooper liked the truncated cone fmj.

Ball sucks regardless of caliber. One of my friends took one to the lung and put 10 rounds into a suspect. He then did a reload. Then he crawled out of the alley and waited for help.

My SR1911 likes 230gr Hydra Shocks. It does not like Critical Defense, fails to eject. My kimber on the other hand loves the 185gr Critical Defense and does not like the Hydra Shocks.

I have noticed that Wilson #47 mags actually help support the JHP round into my (Gasp!)Tisas .45 . It is a good gun with the right mag.

I'm a Gold Dot man. But, I have used Ranger T, HST and Golden Saber. Back in the day Silvertip and Hydra Shok loads were my go to loads. Ranger T would my 2nd choice and HST my third with Golden Saber following up these days.

I was a big fan of Winchester SXT 230. That being said, they jammed regularly in my Kimber. Also, while they fed in my Kobra Carry, the brass ejected back to the face (not sure why / how a specific round would do that). Switched to Gold Dot 230s and solved both issues. I still used SXTs in my G30 until the supply dried up. Now I just stick with the Gold Dots for logistics (not having to have two different rounds on hand).

Note: My original intentions was to switch to HSTs, but they were impossible to find at that time, especially in quantity. The 2 boxes I had tried also fed well in both.

I like Gold Dots and find with a good magazine like Wilson's most 1911 works as well with Gold Dots as with ball ammo.
