Mas, I was wondering what bullet wt will reliably expand in a 3.5 inch barrel? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Love the work you do, read as much of your material I can get my hands on!

Hi-tech JHP bullets designed to expand at lower velocities are an excellent choice here. Federal HST, Winchester Ranger, and Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel come to mind.

Be sure to run a couple hundred of the chosen rounds through the gun before you carry it. 3" 1911s are notorious for finicky cycling and feeding.

thank you I appreciate your help, now I have someplace to start. I understand 1911s can be very picky with jhp. This is my first 1911, i will continue to carry my 23/27 combo till I'm confident with my 1911. thanks again
