My "new to me" 2004 Unlimited. Haven't even made a payment on it yet...
Was that really on Suribachi ??
here's my previous Jeep about 500 miles south of Suribachi...
500 mi. south of Iwo Jima? Looks like you're sporting Guam plates. Nice YJ, by the way. Is that your kidd-o?
To answer your question, no we weren't at the actual Suribachi, we just call it that. It's this sand pit that, in order to get up it, you have to hit it at just the right speed. Too slow, you dig in and stall, too fast and you're going right over the other side. There was a group of Marines, one Army SF guy, and me, the lone Navy turd trying to get our rigs up it one day. After 3 Marines got spit off the backside (because they went in too fast), the Army SF guy said "Dang, kids, that sucker chews up Marines like Mt. Suribachi!" We all had a good laugh and the name just stuck.
Thanks... I left it on the island, but liked it so much (the YJ) that I bought another back here.
Yes, the kiddo is one of mine... they all fight about who gets to ride in it, and get pissed whenever I put the top up... "but it's not raining THAT hard!!"
Here's the "new" one: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2569888
Nice. My girlfriend is the same way. Gale force winds, sideways rain, and she's like, "Do we HAVE to put the top up?!?!" Lol, so you were in Guam, now you're in Texas. You over at Lackland? That's kinda far from Dayton...I'm assuming you're either Air Force or Navy.
Neither... the military wouldn't have me ... at least not on my terms.
I was out there on my own dime ... loved every day of it!
My grocery getter
Hey bud, it's broken... Now that is some articulation!!!
my 2 current projects
Nice Kramer!! Do you ever take the doors off too? We just got our first Jeep, and have not removed the top or doors yet. We'll wait until we have a more favorable forecast to go topless... It will have to stay stock for awhile too unless we hit the lottery or something.
broncos are better
