I've wanted one of these for years, and now the new ones are out!

I can't explain it, other than I feel a need deep in my gut to own a Coonan .357. I had been looking at originals, but now the company is putting out a new model. With night sights and two mags, it's $1,379. I was going to get a Springfield Armory Socom II .308 next, but that plan may have to change now. And before anyone else says it, yes, that feeling in my gut COULD just be gas. :tongueout::supergrin:
Has anyone heard anything about the new models? I don't think they've been out very long at all as I checked the same website just a few months ago and it said they were still in development.
    Any info is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Sarge

I never heard of them but it sure is an interesting piece. I wouldn't mind a little more info on them myself.

I remember them from years back. I emailed them for some more information. A realiable, well built 1911 in .357 Magnum would be pretty dang cool!!!

I agree. I remember the name, but don't remember much about the gun.

You are correct I had one sent it back once to get figured out and it was about 95% after that .

Loading the cartridges in the magazine is the most time comsuming part. They have to be stacked each rim on top of the other or you get a goofy malfunction. Everything was well made and fitted, trigger was exceptional.

I want them to make one in 10mm magnum on a six inch barrel. It would be hard for me to resist.

They shoot well ,I did some feed polishing on the one I had and it was 100% reliable with magnum loads.38 specials wouldn't cycle it and I never got a lighter spring so they would.

Eventually traded it back to the same buddy I got it from and I'm sure I could get it back

Excuse the ignorance, but I'm relatively new around here......
I take that to mean that you're a dealer and have a connection with them? I'm definitely interested in picking one up, that is not in doubt. I've waited for 26 years to have one, so I'm not letting it slip by again. If you can PM me your contact information, I'd like to talk to you. I'm a few weeks away from having the cash together, as I just paid off the new Les Baer that's being built.
    Thanks,
    Sarge

    :tongueout:

I have an original in mint condition. I don't include it with my 1911s, so you guys may never have seen it posted before.

...talk about a fun pistol to shoot! They're big and heavy, but very well made.

I've got a lot of cool stuff outside the 1911 scene, actually.

Most of my autos are not 1911s, believe it or not.

Thanks for those pics! That looks very nice! Like I said, I've wanted one of these for 20+ years, and now that they are putting out new production, and I can actually afford it (moreso than when I was saving lawn mowing money $4.50 at a time to buy my guns  ) it seems like destiny has stepped in and pushed me over the edge. I plan on ordering one in a few weeks.
Glad to hear you like the one you've got. I wonder if they changed anything from the originals, and if so, what?
    Thanks again!
