I went to an outdoor wedding yesterday at 2:00 in the afternoon!! The heat index was 118 degrees.

I would question the common sense of the people that had an outdoor wedding at 2:00 on July 23, but I actually went so where was my common sense?

    My wife made me go.

Humidity is high here right now too. 99° and 22% :whistling:

I was just going to say something about OUR heat index of 102!!!

We are heading for NC this week....the heat index at mom's is 10 degrees less than here!

I doubt we will get to sleep with the windows open this summer!

:sadangel: Keep the hot hot on the coast, Eric!!!

Karen it's hot here,I turned the AC on for the 1st time in 2yrs.'08.

DC,no way I'd do that.Way too much of a danger that a good day could turn inta a bad one.I aged farther south in fla than KCB lives and I've seen the effects of extreme heat.

    Hey Kirgi!

It is warm here...(NC) and my mom and our friends her say they, too have just turned their AC on. But to us, it feels much cooler than home.

We have coffee on the front porch looking at the mountains and I almost need a light jacket, but I get cold easily.

We had a late dinner on the balcony last night watching the sun go down. It was still warm enough that there were some mosquitos, BUT it wasn't hot, to us.

We were invited to a cookout last night in Maggie Valley. It was very nice in the shade with a cool breeze. (Mom and I didn't want to eat there, so we grabbed a deli sandwich on the way home instead....much better. Hubby doesn't feel well today from the cookout food! YIKES!) Maggie Valley is beautiful, too!

It was very warm in the sun and in the car before the AC cooled it down, but still better than Florida! I love this part of the country! :wavey:

Life and weather is amazing in the Mountains of North Carolina!

Drinking coffee on my mom's front porch in the early morning hours...enjoying the view and the cool morning breeze...It's a beautiful world here!

    :wavey:

(It WILL be hot later but it's wonderful in the morning and in the evening!)

We will NOT want to go home when the time comes!

I've been there before, but haven't made it there this trip yet.
My husband hasn't been there, yet, but I've not been able to convince him that he needs to go. I think our daughter will be able to do that one of these days!

However, our friends took us to the Grove Inn Resort on Saturday!

I told my hubby I want to stay there for our anniversary one year...soon!

    NICE!!! VERY nice!!!

We are on vacation and mom's thermometer reads about a buck 13 right now. When people in Virginia start wankin about the heat when it gets in the 90s, I just have to smile a little and remember my childhood.

    I know, Kevin!

Our heat index and humidity is SO hot at home...it's too hot to sit in the swimming pool this summer! :suntan: not!!!

We are at my mom's in North Carolina. This morning, I walked out on her front porch for our morning coffee at about 7:30 a.m. and it felt COLD to me!

It's warm now but the temperature is what it is. Actually, right now it is 89 but feels like 87!!! Right now at home, it's 89 also, but it feels like 99!
Big difference! (And that is cooler than it has been at home!

The "feels like" is what counts!

Right now, there's a hurricane brewing...and heading towards home...around the same time we are scheduled to fly towards home! May need to stay here longer!

    A BEAUTIFUL rock pile!!!

I had to take photos of the furniture for my mom, too! She has my grandmother's furniture that was identical to some of it! We helped her bring it to Florida from Southwest Missouri, and refinish it in our garage! Then, she moved it to the mountains of North Carolina. My name is already on those pieces of furniture....one day they'll be mine! I don't like to speak that way...but I have two sisters. :) We have to share!

    A Beautiful resort!
