    (... sigh ...) I feel truly depressed when misinformation such as this is repeated on this website.

    The original GERMAN Glock 7 model was PORCELAIN; the cheap Asian knockoffs are the ceramic ones. I am certain many naive collectors have been sucked in by this scam.

    Please assist us by refraining from repeating such faulty information.

    The reference is obscure, and your error is easily forgiven. Besides, it allowed me to be a pedantic schmuck for a refreshing moment.

    There is an oddball rarity among Glocks that may amuse readers. When Glock got the drop on Smith by getting to market first with its .40 versions, a provision of the AMMO name licensing required that, for one year, Glocks produced in that caliber had to be marked ".40S&W"! After the year, Glock could revert to ".40". So for a short time, a Glock was made carrying a competitor's initials. These guns are mild collectibles.

    I'm not sure about a Holy Grail, but a gen 1 G19 is extremely rare.

    They still make these in limited runs. I could have gotten one this past summer brand new with a test date in early 2012 for the same price as a 34, but choose the 34 due to it being a gen 4 which i like. The gun shop says he gets 4-5 every other year.

    When was the TALO Glock highly sought after? The TALO Glock is not even factory. Any body can send there Glock in and have the TALO finish put on it.

    The rainbow club wants one of every color and the fish club wants guns with gills but there is no Glock everyone wants.
    Me? I'd like a Gen 2 G20 with out the stupid finger bumps, but I can get my frame cleaned up so it isn't important enough to worry about.

    My first Glock was a new Model 27 with those markings. However, the actual *exact* marking is ".40 SW". I purchased it in early 1997, and it remains the most essential handgun in my armory, though now along with my Model 31 Gen 4. I'm on the second set of night sights for it.

    Dropping of "SW" on the Glock .40 SW pistols was an outcome of settlements after S&W's loss in 1997 of the patent infringement suit that Glock brought against S&W in 1994, which claimed that the S&W Sigma exactly copied much of Glock's design. The Glock Model 22 came out in 1990 bearing the .40 SW slide marking, and that marking was still in use seven years later, until late 1997...considerably longer than one year!

    That also means that Glocks with ".40 SW" markings are, in fact, very common.

    This will bear some investigation. Every 40sw gun serial number i have encountered checked out to early production. It would be interesting if there are a bunch of production years for it.
