Is there anything out there? Help me!
There are countries that have 15 round magazine limits and they have AK mags in that size. Some are factory new but others are converted. In the US you might be able to find the 15 round Valmet magazines but expect them to be expensive. Otherwise there are plenty of cheap double stack 10 round magazines around.
These are for the Saiga, but can be modified to work in a regular AK. You can do this, buy 10 rounders, or you can make your own 15 rounders.
You may or may not be able to get Saiga magazines to function. Besides modifying the front of the magazine to clear the bullet guide, the Saiga magazine catch is higher than an AK and the shelf on the rear of the Saiga magazine will sit lower than normal in an AK.
Would NJ allow one that had been made standard cap but permanently modified to accept 15 rounds, if so you could probably find someone in a free state to do the work for you. Maybe try a WTB ad here on GT
Thanks for the feedback.
Man, I hate your Avatar, anyway I was surfing the net last night looking at mags and access. and saw a 15 rd conversion froma 30 rd mag. I just cann't remember where I saw it and couldn't understand who would need one, sorry.
Use a 20rd mag and make the follower longer.
Thanks but nobody will send you a 20 round mag if you live in Jersey.
TAPCO or Cheaper than Dirt has +5rd followers intended to convert 5rd mags to 10rds. I would try getting a 10rd mag and one of those +5 followers and see what happens. Also do note that at least in regard to the 5rd and 10rd mags in 7.62x39 from China, they sometimes came in different body lenghts.
Thanks Ted. I had the same idea about the +5 follower about a month ago. I contacted Tapco and asked them if it would work in their 10 round mags. They took a few days to try it out. They told me that it would not work. They made it for 5 round steel mags and is too tight in their poly mags. The only 10 round steel mags that I came across were single stack. Do they have double stack 10 round steel mags? Thanks again.
Depends on what you are looking for, I found these guys for my california magazines but it looks like they have 15 round magazines also, heres the link to the ak magazines
My Chinese 84S AK uses 15-rounders but they are 5.56 and about $75 each now.
You could check out this guy:
I know of him from the AKFiles.com. He can probably hook you up.
I just noticed this is from 2010.
This new forum format is taking a bit to get used to...
Since Colorado passed their 15 rd max mag limit... even tho this is an older thread... behold!
I got many from this place, excellent magpul mags.
There are like 48 other states you could live in….
