I am going to go get some ammo for my g19 for ccw and was wondering how well and reliable is the speer gold dot 9mm +p.

It is one of the well known big name rounds. It will be perfectly reliable to shoot out of your Glock but I would recommend that you shoot a box or two before you actually carry them.
See how they feel and how they shoot.
Remember that hitting the target is more important than what you are hitting it with.

    :agree:

The 124gr +P is probably one of the most popular rounds out there, but if you can't put it where it needs to go, its useless. Get at least 2 boxes, and practice with it, to see if its the right one for you. I personally like to shoot a little more than 2 boxes to practice w/ my carry ammo, but I can understand money can be an issue...

Yeah, it's one of the top 9mm JHP self-defense rounds.

Like someone wrote, experiment with premium JHP rounds and you'll find one that has characteristics you think are better than any other.

Then carry that round until you find a better one.

Glad to here its a popular round, speer is hard to find around this area especially the +p and it is 25.00 a box of 20 so practice is almost imposable.

You may want to check on the availability of Ranger T, HST or Golden Saber if you can not find Gold Dots. You should be able to purchase any of the above in 50 round boxes in the $30 range.
