Is prostitution really just capitalism?

Did you know that physician is close to the top of the list of most suicidal jobs? That means you personally must be miserable right?

#9 on the list. BTW he is NOT a Doctor, he just plays one on the internet.

  3. Just as an FYI, one detail that came up from the health department at one of the town halls on the matter was that issue of STD's and according to the Nevada board of health there has never been a known case of an STD being passed at a brothel.

Somehow, I doubt the guys going with the streetwalkers or girls at casino bars have been as fortunate.

But hey, making something some folks want illegal will make everyone fine upstanding moral bible thumpers too right? I mean it worked so well for the 13 years of booze prohibition and the drug war is a screaming success where hey, even in prison there are no drugs. And if you made prostitution illegal in the counties here the illegal prostitution in the ones next door would just go away like magic.

Bible thumper fantasy land. People have nearly zero issue breaking laws that infringe on personal freedom (hell, it often becomes the cool thing to do) and even most that don't break the laws, would mind their business given the chance because they know it is only a matter of time before big brother infringes on some personal choice of theirs. Being free means you’re free to be responsible and if you make bad choices, you pay the price.

Did you know that those that promote suicide are the most suicidal?

Take the 12 ga out of your mouth and seek help. Or go ahead and pull the trigger and find out what is next.

I'm sensing a HUGE amount of projection from you.

Can I point out AGAIN that I am not a physician. I am a Physician Assistant. If you don't know what that is, you can look here. http://money.cnn.com/pf/best-jobs/2012/snapshots/16.html

I'm fine, you may be forked though. That's your problem.

Who's promoting suicide? Obviously my point is that just because you think somebody can't be happy in their profession that doesn't mean they aren't.

Hmm, maybe medical school isn't that hard after all...

Medical testing for hookers is the biggest joke ever. Do they get tested after every customer? So all you have to worry about is all the guys between you and the last test.

And, I can't believe there is actually someone who believes the, "I'm a college graduate, but I just like hooking better," line.

Have a working relationship with a hooker versus a sexual business relationship and you will find out a lot more about them. Hookers make great informants for law enforcement, because you know, if they will sell their bodies, they will darn sure sell information on their customers and friends to you.

I understand hookers a lot better than I understand the people who go to them.

  8. Life is all about risks. I think the average "John" is about 100,000 times more likely to die an early death from cheeseburgers than he is from an STD. Or be killed by a drunk driver. etc etc blah blah blah

  9. Nothing you've said changes anything. Like it or not, prostitution has been around since the dawn of time and will be long after we're gone. Enacting prohibition on personal choices drives in the criminal element.

Like with anything, respecting someone else's choices isn't the same as endorsing them.

Alas, why try to talk sense to bible thumpers? No matter what the religion, a bible thumper hates nothing more than having to mind his own business. Like liberals, everyone has to believe exactly what they believe and live how they see fit. There is zero room for freedom because they know how everyone has to live. Hateful folks.

Almost no one dies from STDs any more. They may have to take medicine the rest of their life for them, but none are terminal any more with treatment.

    But, still not very pleasant.

I never get the hooker thing. It's not like it's hard to have sex with normal women these days.

  12. I don't see the draw either and the typical bar trash isn't exactly a whole lot different but it isn't about that or STD's. It is about people owning their bodies, choices and others minding their own business.

I don't care if it's illegal or not. I just think it's kind of pathetic.

Politics is the art of achieving the maximum amount of freedom for individuals that is consistent with the maintenance of social order. - Barry Goldwater

There are far too many laws restricting freedom that pose no threat to social order.

  15. As the old adage goes, you're not paying her for the sex, you're paying her to leave afterwards.

"Normal women" still have a ways to go in that regard.

Ever been to a country where prostitution is legal, like Germany? Whole different thing than here. Your arguments are about like saying, "we need to keep drugs illegal because of all the dangerous gangs that sell them."

    Yes, actually I have. I wasn't impressed.

Ignoring a problem isn't the same as solving it, although ignoring it will be enough for most people.

Like any other activity, the public will tolerate and allow, what the public will tolerate and allow. Doesn't mean I'm converted.

  19. Just wanted to weigh in on this............. I've almost stopped watching the Cops show because of prostitution "stings" and kids busted for having a joint. Do you all really think that we don't have more important things to expend our resources on?! Neither one is ever going to be stopped, and they are both a cash cow for law enforcement and the legal system. I don't agree with either so-called "crime", but sheesh, let's get a grip here and turn our attention to more pressing problems.

  20. You're totally entitled to think it is pathetic but you should care that it is illegal because government being allowed to outlaw free choices of consenting adults opens the door for them to infringe on your right to make your own choices like where or if you buy health insurance.
