Agreed but our decline did start quite a while ago.

Do you know what year the US stopped being the world's largest manufacturing country?

  4. ^^^^ Unfortunately, this.

If you look at the DJIA, it first hit 10,000 in 1996 or 1997. Since that time, how many time have we hit 10,000 again and again? Where are we now, somewhere around 12,000?

    Whoppie-do!

  5. The American people have spoken.

They are going to reap what they have sown.

  6. There will only be a recession if the Republicans continue to dig their heels in. We have to raise taxes. The question is whose.

wouldnt cutting spenditures be a lot more prudent?

  8. Well, since you support Obama, I hope you and the rest who do volunteer first.

Or, would you prefer theft from others first?

  9. It will take both. One dollar of tax increases for ten dollars of spending cuts sounds reasonable to me.

Even if we raise taxes on every income in the country, we don't even begin to come close to fixing the economy. We have to cut spending. Raising taxes won't work.

  12. And alot of us will be walking around with a big smirk on our face - you elected him - you deserve it!!

this country spends a bit over 500 billion a year on national defense/security but over 700 billion a year on welfare (not counting social security or medicare). i see where 200 billion a year should be cut immediately.

Of course we all know it isn't YOUR taxes that will get raised.

What will raising taxes do to prevent a recession or depression?

Anybody who believes that an increase in taxes will be used to balance the budget hasn't been paying attention. It will all go to new spending.
