You can get a Mossberg 500 cheaper ..unless you absolutely want a Remington.

I've seen Turner's sell that same 870 Express for $339. Big 5 (if there's one near you) sometimes has them on sale for $349 also, but they usually have 10% coupons available to use.

That is the normal price for that model around the country. That is the 870 HD model 25077 and is the one I recommend for HD on a budget. You can't go wrong, 18.5" Cyl Bore barrel with bead sight. Remington sythetic rear stock, Speedfeed LE forend, Remington 2 shot LE Extension. The weapon is in a matte finish which requires care if you live in humid areas but is durable and will last when cared for.

The barrel on that model is not theaded for Rem Choke tube. It is a fixed Cyl bore choke. Theaded choke tubes may not be desired for an HD or tactical weapon that you are going to be shooting buckshot and slugs out of. Tubes are find for sporting weapon that where you use shot but can take some abuse with the larger buckshots and slugs. Fixed choke should be preferred. This is the reason the 870 police models all come with fixed chokes.

Don't know where you live but you can find that model for less with some shopping.

If you mean California then that is the wrong side of the country for me to know about, if that is even in this country any more. If you are in CA, go to www.galguns.net and post the question as to the best price for the Remington model 25077 and those guys will give you some leads. The best price you can find on line is on Gun Broker.com with either Buds or Discount Gunner.
