So I got an iPhone 4 yesterday and I need a good case for it. I need something pretty rugged but not too thick or bulky. I didn't feel like buying one in the Verizon store when I got the phone because I thought I could find a better deal elsewhere.

I've been using switcheasy since the 3G came out all the way to now with the 4s and I recommend them highly. I drop my phone more than I hold it and it is never damaged and always in mint condition when I remove the case.

Also, I recommend the power support screen protectors. They offer the best screen protection of any protector. Plus, you can take them off, wash them and reuse them. They are sturdy and offer the best screen quality.

They're made in the USA with free shipping. My 3 and 9 year olds haven't managed to break this one yet. Strong as hell and not bulky like the otterbox cases.

I had a Otterbox Defender and although the protection was great, it was huge and bulky. I recently switched to a ballistic and I am very please with it..

I was also happy with my LifeProof...until this week when the charge-flap thingee cracked. It's cracked all the way through from the outside edges going in. It's not snapped yet but it's close.

I guess I'll be finding out how good their customer service is this week.

I originally had an OtterBox Defender. My husband used it after I got the LifeProof. He immediately broker the belt clip. They replaced it, no questions asked. He broke it again. I need to email them again for another replacement.

The second time he broke it, he got a Speck. It lasted about 3 months before it broke. He got a LifeProof this week the day before mine broke.

We're hell on cases in this house.

Please let me know what they do. I am also curious if they would charge for a replacement ear jack plug or just send it for free.

Small, thin phones cramp my hands so the Otterbox Defender is perfect for me.

I much prefer my LifeProof to my old Otterbox. I get similar protection in a slim, easy to pocket design. Add that it's waterproof and you can't beat it. For half the money he OB Defender is a great case, but I got sick of trying to pocket carry it every time I broke the clip(which was often).

LifeProof here too. I have my phone in my pocket ALL of the time no matter what I'm doing and don't think my iphone could last with me without a non-waterproof case. So far the LifeProof has held up for about 6 months.

But not sure it fits the OP's requirements because it is pretty bulky. The good thing is the plastic it's made of isn't sticky like some of the otterboxes.

I had an Otter Box Defender first. I wasn't nearly as impressed with the one for the iPhone 4 as I was the one for the 3GS I had previously.

Now I have a Griffin Survivor. I like it much better than the Defender. It is more like the Defender for the 3GS. It's bulky, but that's good for my big hands. It offers great protection. I think the only thing the Lifeproof has on it is that it's waterproof.

Just yesterday I left my phone on top of my garage fridge. It rang and vibrated off, straight to the concrete floor. You can't even tell it's ever been dropped.
