I brought home a Gen III Model 17 from one of the local Pawn shops.
I paid $ 350 out the door for it. It's about 98%. It had only one mag with it, but was in the orig box with all paperwork and accessories.
I was second guessing the purchase because of the 1 mag deal, but figured o.k. because I have extras. Long story short, I take it apart and am focusing on the barrel, the crown looked odd. I begin to handle it and a bushing starts moving, it's threaded!! That subtracts any bad I felt about the extra mags.
Now the down side, It sits in the gun same as a normal G17. If it is set for a suppressor, should'nt it stick out 1/4" or so? If any of you have extended barrels please chime in. Thanks. RG1

Yup! The threads should extend beyond the slide. You got yourself a hybrid! I'd be mighty careful with it since the parts were united from more than one gun to make a new one.

    Pics pics pics!

Sounds like maybe a threaded 19 barrel got stuffed into it, but I thought 17/17L/18/34 and 19/26 had different locking blocks and were not interchangeable?

    Is it a threaded 19 barrel in a 17?
    Pics will be interesting.

If one of you can walk me through the pic posting, I'll post it. I'm computer un-inclined. I believe that it is the orig. barrel. It has the serial # stamped on it. So that crosses out the G19 barrel theory.

Now with that said, that sucks. I'll have to buy a new barrel.

Edit: My question was already answered.

It sounds almost like someone had the original barrel threaded. Is the thread protector(the bushing) smooth on the outside or does it have a rough texture?

If serial numbers match, somebody evidently mistakenly thought they could have the original barrel threaded and add a suppressor or compensator. If your thread protector doesn't wear too much on the opening in the slide, and the gun cycles, you should be OK. Personally, I'd try to return it.

19 threaded barrel will not fit in a 17. Pic will eliminate the guesswork and help us to help you.

I would NOT try to fire that pistol until I had a Glock armorer look it over.

It appears that that is exactly what happened. You'd think that the person doing the threading would have asked that question, seeing that it is an original Glock barrel.

The bushing is smooth and has wear marks where it has been fired. It is a pretty good job. I'm debating buying a LWD barrel for it, or taking it back.
The weapon is in very good condition other than the barrel being threaded. It has no holster wear, scratches, or wear other than the bushing. Not even the top of the barrel by the ejection port is missing bluing.

If they will take it back I would without hesitation. With the cost of a lone wolf barrel you're into it for too much without a good matching number barrel.

Take it back and when they act like they didnt know the barrel was threaded... give them laser eyes.

This is the reason I hate watching Pawn Stars on tv... They love to F* everyone.
